tina41 - hope you are enjoying having your son & his wife home!  Enjoy the 10 days - woohoo!

J's/S'smom - glad your son is back on dry land!  Enjoy your post-deployment leave time with him ;-)

KAM Mom - I hope you didn't get too much more rain this weekend...

Danny - you might want to try Uber to get around.  I had the name of a taxi guy when my son was there - let me look for it & if I find it I'll post it.

Hi all - Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a good weekend.  Hubby & I went to Oak Glen (local apple picking place in the mountains) with college son & his GF on Saturday.  Had a nice time with them.

Sunday morning had a nice long call from sailor who just got back from an extended underway - so good to hear his voice!  He sounded exhausted but otherwise well....now they get ready to leave for deployment next month ~ sigh.....

Then I got to spend the afternoon visiting with NancyJo! She's been in San Diego visiting her sailor & his family so we spent 5 HOURS at Starbucks - had a blast!!  We probably could have spent 5 more hours & still not talked about everything but we sure did our best!  I just love when I get to meet other Navy Mom's (and especially nuke mom's!!).  I even got to meet her sailor (and of course I made sure to give him a big 'ole navy mom hug) and 2 of her 3 adorable grandbabies.  Thank you NancyJo for a fun afternoon!  And safe travels to you as your return home today ;-)

Hello All,

Wanted to get some recommendations on transportation...
I'm going out to visit my husband next month, and will be 24 at the time, meaning I can't get a rental car without an extra fee per day. I'll probably stay at the Villas, I was wondering about taxis rates or any other type of transportation.
Also how far is the Villas from the NNPTC barracks?

Thank You!

I normally just read and learn from everyone here. I've gotten lots of great information from lurking. But Dittersmom, since you asked, I live in Tacoma about 30 miles south of Seattle. Why do you ask?

So, what is it doing here in Lexington, SC (across the river from Columbia)....it is raining again.  Unfortunately, all the water from here is flowing down to the coastal areas.  GS is a little north and east of Charleston.  They are just fine as far as I know.  My sailor's GF lives in Mt. Pleasant at the mouth of the bay and Cooper River.  I'll be watching the news again.  Our governor Haley has been following that water as it flows  and is anticipating all the need and is making  "preparations" ahead of the flow.   Congratulations to all who have had sailors graduate.  We are still in A school until mid Nov.  We are bless to be so close and can see him.  I love watching youtube documentaries on the Navy subs and carriers!

Sailor Son just finished school at GC and is headed to Groton on the USS Pittsburgh. Looking for 1 bedroom or studio apartments in Groton. Anyone have any info.

Glad for everyone who heard from sailors.  Boco I hope you get to go to graduation.  I missed them all, but I have a nuke who is enjoying time home.  (Happy dance)

Tina I can't imagine not seeing or having my son home for two years. You are blessed.

Okay, the news is that my car is totaled.  I suppose next time I should more specific about what I want when I pray or ask for directions on what to do when God gives me an alternate plan. Lol.  I will get more money for the car then what I paid, so now back to car shopping.  Anyone up in the Seattle area?
