Tina-Enjoy, Enjoy, Enjoy! Very happy for you :-D

Kaye- I know your tip wasn't for me but thank you all the same, our Sailor is a bit of a "pen snob" Great idea scubagirl, I wish I would've thought of it when we did our son's box...maybe next time.

I received this link while our Marine son was deployed and thought I would share (again). I personally haven't ordered anything...yet, but plan to eventually.  http://www.buildasign.com/Troops

Scubagirl:

Get Zebra brand "F-301" pens, stainless steel body, in black ink.  These pens are prized in the engr. dept. to the point that one can get shipmates to trade small favors for 'em.  I gave my 27-yr-old a dozen last Christmas, and he was thrilled!

I got my son a Fisher Space Pen.  It was for the astronauts and writes upside down.  Thought it would be cool if he was lying in his bunk and writing.  I got mine at one of those luggage store in the mall but I bet they have them online.

Johanna, the pens are for work on the boat.  I would just about faint if I got a letter.  He wrote two in boot camp.  The form letter and one his RDC required them to write about not sending letters the week before PIR. Just trying to put useful things in his box.  He will earn Dolphins while they are deployed so he can not take laptop with movies, etc.

scubagirl...are the pens for doing his work on the boat or writing letters home...;)

Working on my son's halfway box and was going to include ink pens but not sure what kind and color I should get.  Anyone know the answer to my question?

My son is surviving cranking. He said his new nickname is "Oscar" 'cuz he's working in the trash compactor room on his sub and he works alone. But he can eat all he wants and is happy! They docked in San Diego and he called home which was a total surprise! Only there for the weekend.
