tysmom, my son's favorite place to go is the Dole plantation. They make a killer fresh pineapple ice-cream.

MaryBeth another excellent place to eat, is at the Longhorn Steakhouse. Whenever we went to visit our son, that is the only place we ALWAYS ate at, as it was so good & reasonable. It is located outside the Crystal Mall, between I-95 and I-395 in Waterford, Conn. (850 Hartford Turnpike). It is about a 10 minute drive from the base. Have fun visiting your son. I wish ours was still there, he is all the way in Hawaii now, getting ready for his 1st, 6 month deployment.

You can make reservations, your sailor has to be there when you check in. Eating: Groton Townhouse, Flanders Fish Market, Pauls Pasta.

Hi everyone....I am going to visit my sailor boy in CT.  This will be my first trip. Anybody been before and can offer me some things to know?

I like the farmers markets where you can but local food. I may go to the big flea market at Aloha Stadium as I have never been....
