Hello!

My son just went to boot camp on October 6th, 2015.

Is there anyone else who would want to get in touch with each other for moral support, etc.

I miss my son so much! :'(

My son left too the same day yours did. I was a total mess and still is. Today I received his stuff and was hoping it would have some kind of note or address where I can send him a letter. I know how you feel. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about my son or cry. Nights are harder.

I surely know what you mean! I started a calendar where I check off the days til I get to see him. I haven't received his 'box' yet, maybe today! I called his recruiter for his address but some say not to trust it because things can change in the first week. Like my son plays the clarinet so I wonder if he would be put into a 900 division. That's the performance division but maybe he didn't volunteer that information.

I have felt so much more connected since I have found this page! It has so much info and links so I feel like I'm learning as well. It doesn't make the separation easier but at least it makes me look forward to the awesome stuff he will be learning.

Keep in touch Proudmama! I will too!

My son shipped 6 Oct 2015.  Fed Ex tried to deliver his box Saturday but we were not home & needed to sign for it so it came yesterday.  Everyone said it would be hard to get the box, but it wasn't for me.  I feel my son has joined a team & what they wear now are their uniforms, like a collegiate athletic team.  Having said that, I still cry every day because I miss his presence in our home & buying him the things he likes (grocery shopping is painful).  I am so proud of these boys!  They know we love & support them.  This is their time to focus & shine as they show what they are made of.  Prayers to them &   all their hurting mammas....

I am so grateful for this site, it has helped me tremendously in many ways.

PS....I write my son a letter each night to send later.  They aren't long, but the process helps me.

What I did was start my letter the day he left (Tuesday, 10/06) and just kept it going until Sunday. I thought 5 typed pages was enough so I ended that one and started the next one. Then today, I got the letter from him re his address, which I already knew because I called his Petty Officer Recruiter. I was ecstatic! Jumped out the door to post the letter. Next one will go sooner!

My husband shipped out October 7, 2015. I am dying without him and still havent come to terms with not hearing from him. I received "the box" yesterday. Now just patiently waiting on the Form Letter.. I agree with others, nights are very very hard for me.

Nights are hard...weekends are even harder for me. I guess it's more time at home to be lost in my thoughts and missing my son. We got our first call this past Friday and it was great to hear his voice; just to know that he is ok helped. Now just waiting for the letters that he said he wrote and the next call.

That which does not kill us, makes us stronger. (as the old saying goes). We Moms (and wives) are stronger than anyone gives us credit for. We are also the only ones that really know what we are feeling and going through.

Stay strong.

Hi--My son shipped 10-6 out of Maryland. DIV 28 is the brother company to my son's (per Lemonelephant). My son is on Ship 14 --Div 027.

I too have written a letter or card just about every night since he left. We just got the form letter day before yesterday so they are in the mail. Just remember, it will take 5-10 business days for our sons/daughters to get their mail. I can't wait for his first letter to come. He is not much of a writer, but I am hoping this will change while he is there.

I find the evenings hard as well. He and  used to watch crime shows together and try to solve them. Sometimes we would try to see who could solve it first. Not a day went by when I didn't get a call or text fro him while I was at work. I miss that so much. I miss him so much. I haven't put his things away yet form the box. In the evenings I still pull his jacket out and just hug it. I am proud of him, but he is my first born and the first to leave the nest. This is harder than I thought it would be. I'm down to about 5-6 times a day now that I cry. I try to keep busy. The support here on this site has been fabulous and informative. Together we are all creating a team of Moms, like our sons and daughters are creating their new family team.

From what I have read, it sounds like we will be sitting in sections at the PIR by Div--so maybe we will all get to meet then.  Stay strong Moms--we can do this.

My hubby found this site----

Awesome info regarding mail.  It's on this site --this will make it easier to get to.

he also found this site about the ship (14) and the historical ship it's named for

As much as I dislike social media Facebook, I had to sign up for it in order to access RTC's Facebook.  They have info and periodic pictures of the SRs.  and events..

Hi Cameronsmom,

Another week checked off the calendar. Yeah!

I'm so obsessed with finding out info on the Navy that it helps me to feel better and that I am learning as he is.

Keep in touch and hopefully we will meet at M&G and PIR!

RTCsmom

I found another Mom on the Facebook for the graduation too--she has a son in the same group--- She is in PA.

Hope to see you too at the Meet and Greet and PIR.

Got our call tonight!!!! HOOYAH!!!!   Ship 14  Div 027 --   Just got my call!!!!  about 5 minutes and then a few minutes later he called back for another 5!!!!!!!    He just made my day!!! I was feeling so down and depressed. I cried when the calls were done and lost it again.  He said that he has been writing us lots of letters and will keep doing so.  He is doing great!!!!  He said that they have had to drop a few times due to others in the division not listening very well...but overall, he said they are all doing well. He said he will call again in a week and half or two weeks. He sounded about 5 years older and the young man I knew was inside of him. SO VERY PROUD OF HIM!!!!

Hope everyone else gets their calls and letters!!!

Jan
