N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Happy Thanksgiving!  For those of you spending the day with your SR, enjoy!  Someone on the 12/11 group said the line to get in there is L O N G!  That is so good to hear....lots of families with their SRs today!  For those who are not there, hope you will get phone calls from your SRs who may be hosted by the groups off of base and will borrow cell phones of their hosts.  Or for those staying on base, hope they get to call too!  Enjoy!

Donnah -  I hope your Adopt-A-Sailor Form has info. This is what I know from past years info:

You use your Adopt-A-Sailor form as a Vehicle Gate pass at the Gate shack to be able to drive on board RTC.

You should be directed to the Parking Garage and the to the Visitors Center. This is where you give your Form to personnel and they will call your Recruit out to come to you.

**This is the same Visitors Center used for entrance to Midway Ceremonial Drill Hall for PIR.

Donnah:  I would assume at the gate?  Didn't the form give any instructions?

Comment by diannep on November 25, 2015 at 10:55pm

MSmom:  Not all SRs will call home tomorrow.....but the ones who are adopted out for the day either by a shipmate's family or by a community group should call home on borrowed cells sol be sure to answer all phone calls tomorrow!  For those remaining on base, they possibly can call home, but with so many SRs on base, 5000+, not all will be able to call. Fingers crossed!

Selly:  Yes, sometimes they do (but it is rare to have two in the same PIR group anyway).  But this time, they separated them.
