Morning!

Woooohooo Anna! So excited for you both! The roller coasters just keep coming, don't they? Absolutely wonderful that she's back to her squadron :-)

JayDee-- chills! My sailor sworn in on her grampa's (Navy Dr) birthday. Just knowing they both went thru boot in GL gave me goosebumps on a regular basis!

Believe it or not - it's cold here, Anna! Well - at least by desert standards. However, it's been in the low 30's at night. Does that qualify as cold? Nice sunny days though. I love when the sky is so blue and the air is crisp.

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Good morning all, it's a rainy dreary day here.  Not like the holidays at all.

Anna - here's the picture I was talking about.  It's funny to look at this and think that they were probably sitting in the same place maybe in front of the same flag.

Anna, that's awesome news for your daughter. I know how excited you both must be! I'm excited for her!

It was such odd timing on my brother. I was 2 when he went into the Navy and I knew something was odd when he came home but I was far too young to understand. By the time I was old enough we were on different ends of the country. I spent a Thanksgiving at his house and after a few beers he said I was old enough about told me a couple things. He died quite mysteriously in 2012 about 6 weeks after mom. His bootcamp graduation picture sits on the mantle next to my daughters. Funny how time works against us then turns around and is suddenly on our side.

Thank you ladies!!!  With all the PT and the exercises the leg muscles are getting much stronger which is fine but I never really had a problem with that.  What gets me is that if I walk very long or when I have to stand for a long time (even cooking dinner) my knee joint gets so stiff and sore that then I can't walk!!!  But doctors want me to finish up all the PT appointments before they decide on anything else.  Hello!?!?!  PT can't fix a joint issue  -  they only work on the muscles!!!!  I need patience and I don't have any!!!!!

However, I do have some WONDERFUL news!!!  For some of you who have been on here for awhile you know that my officer daughter,  Jennifer has been going through Flight Officer training since graduating from OCS in 2012.  She was just about finished and would have earned her gold wings except for one mistake on a safety test on the aircraft during her final flight.  But then she immediately went on medical hold because she was suffering from an overactive thyroid.  That was in September 2014!!!!  It has been over a YEAR but she has finally been declared stable and best of all - has been reinstated in her aviation community!!!  Her request to NAMI was approved and much quicker than anyone imagined. So after the first of the year she will go back to the training squadron and find out how much refresher training she will need to finally get those Gold Wings!!!!!  It has been over a year since she even stepped foot in her aircraft so she has some serious cramming to do!!!!!  But she is happy she gets to stay in aviation, so if you could just keep her in your prayers that this final step will go quickly and smoothly for her!!!!!  Thank you!!!

So happy to hear everyone else's good news!!

JayDee,

I agree - your post gave me goose bumps!! How exciting to be able to see that!!  And so happy you got to spend time with your girl!!!!

Oleander,

I've missed you too!!!  How is your weather out there?  Any of that cold and snow hit your area???

Morning everyone! Hope everyone had safe travels and a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! Got a chance to have lots of conversations with my girl --- always makes me so happy!

Wow JayDee! Remarkable! You brought tears to my eyes. I've been able to retrieve some very interesting information about my father's Navy experience through the National Personnel Records Center but standing right in front of that memorial must have been so powerful!

Hi Anna! I've missed you. I'm so sorry you're knee is still so painful. Hugs and prayers the healing process will be accelerated.

Hope everyone has a great day .... can you believe tomorrow is December already? Wow.

Good morning everyone.  Hope you all had wonderful Thanksgiving weekends and got to see or talk to your sailors.  We had a wonderful time in Goose Creek with our lady.  It's amazing to see how much she has changed in just a few short months.  Good news is that she still loves her choice and is a happy camper.  We spent the day at Patriots Point and it was really a beautiful place.  There was an interesting bonus in it for me.  They have a new Vietnam section and as I was going through it I text my oldest brother and asked him what ship our other brother was on (he passed away 12 years ago).  My brother text me back to say he was on a river gunboat and there in front of me was a display of that same thing with lots of information about that group.  A quick text brought me more information than I'd had (as I was very young and my brother never told me a thing about his experiences).

Wow, that was long.  I was just excited and wanted to share.

Hope you all have a wonderful week.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

JayDee,

How exciting to have your daughter there with you!!!  What a reason to give Thanks!!

Guinness,

Hope you get that important first letter soon!!

sarahsmom,

I am so sorry things are not working out for your girl and the plans you guys made.  And as sad as it is, sometimes someone makes a big mistake and our sailors and the family has to pay the price.  This is when you feel that roller coaster just taking you down and you feel like you're going to crash!!

8isenuff,

I can imagine with 8 kiddos it starts to get harder and harder to get everyone's schedule to match up to be the same place at the same time.  Seems as tho every one of our family reunions was missing someone!!!  Sailor Son and his family got into their base housing duplex.  I can't believe they pay $3000 a month for housing in Hawaii!!!  We got to skype for about an hour today!!!  He is doing well.

Looks like oldest son secured a new job but it will mean moving to Ohio.  Not too bad because they will still be pretty close to some of the close friends they made in PA.  He's having to travel to Connecticut and Chicago over the next 3 weeks but then will start this job, located just north of Cincinnati.  He's looking for a place to rent and Ash and Melanie will move over there in January.  They're not going to try to sell their house in PA just yet.

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and had a chance to hear from those who cannot be with us!!!  I am thankful for all the wonderful ladies I've met on this website who are always there when I need you!!!!
