N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Ok so I have a question. I am going to fly up to adopt my kiddo and a friend for Christmas and was wondering what kind of gifts I could bring these guys. I know they can't take anything back so I'm looking for someone's creativity!?!? I'm not sure what we will do either. I'm from Texas and will be off for Christmas break bc I'm a teacher. Yay so I'll be staying there till PIR the next week. I plan on getting a car hopefully if it's not to snowy. So any thoughts??

Yes, he called me on Thanksgiving for 15 min. And I received a letter from him on Saturday. He is doing great, he ranked up to Port Watch, and was so excited but I could tell in his voice he is home sick. Can't wait until Dec . 31st to hold my son again!

I have a question about Christmas adoption. What happens if something happens to prevent us from coming on Christmas like we planned? The weather is so unpredictable this time of year. We're about 4 hours away and are planning on driving. Will our recruit be adopted by a church or civic organization?

Ladies:  Just a reminder that we cannot post the last names of SRs on this site.  If you posted one, please delete your post.  You are allowed to use initials and hometowns if you want to see if someone is on here connected to that SR.  Thanks!

Proud of Jarrett, Have you received a letter yet?

I was hoping for one yesterday or today, but nothing yet! I am anxious to know how my son is doing! I know they are super busy!

My son is on ship 02. Div. 908. Anyone here with the last name Ward from Pittsburgh? ?? My son is his bunk mate. He's made friends with him and said your son is such a good person, and he plans to keep in touch after he goes to A school.

Thanks for the ribbon info! We just ordered some as well. Also got a real call today; division 052!! Thank you so much Krisrva for mentioning that they were calling. We were at the mall and I carried my phone with us the whole time and he did call while we were there! So good to hear his voice and to learn that he is adjusting and making friends.
