N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Beachmomblue, when I spoke to my husband (div 907) yesterday he said that something had happened to the key to the mail room (think maybe it broke?? Can't remember what he said) but that a locksmith was supposed to be coming today. He said he's not been able to mail his last 2 letters & he's not gotten some paperwork for DEERS that I mailed him because of that.

Is it okay to write a letter every day and send it.  Some people think its too excessive.  Also, we got one letter from him.  I believe he sent a letter on the 14th because we received it on the 18th but we have not received anything ever since.  Is this normal to skip writing a letter on the 21st?

Little confused, diannep. Are you saying the parents can only visit their children at the airport on Jan. 2nd? We fly out that day at 8am. Hope I didn't get a too early flight. Thanks.

tomsgal:  I'm assuming your new sailor will be flying out for A School?  If so, he will have to be back on RTC by probably 8 pm or so.  Remember, if you are ON TIME in the military, you are considered LATE so he would need to be back before then (it is a good distance to walk to their ships too).  Not sure of the hours for Liberty on New Years Day....but you should get the full day with your sailor....it is possible that he will be bussed to the airport later than night to fly out the next day (you can meet him there to visit, get an airlines gate pass, and wait until he departs), but you should still have him for the day---he will know what time by PIR Day.  I'm assuming he will have to return to RTC around 8 pm.

Received a call from my son, Div 048, last night. He is doing well, said it is difficult but he is fine. I was so thrilled. He is not the kind to write a letter. Even though I mailed him a pre-addressed envelope with a stamp! Told him we are all set with travel plans for PIR. I CANNOT wait to see him again. Does anyone know what time they have to be back at RTC on PIR day. And since the next day they likely have liberty for New Year's Day, does anyone know the hours for that? Just trying to figure out reservations for meals.

If Navy Lodge is full, be sure to keep calling back because they will get cancellations!
