Although they give a military discount, Harry and David doesn't deliver to apo and afp addresses. We have a H&D store in Medford so we can pick things up and pack to mail.

My sailor uses one of those closet shoe organizers in his locker to give himself some makeshift shelving. It helps a lot, especially because he is on a top bunk so only has two upright lockers. Just make sure it's not too wide...I think his is about 6 inches across.

He also put velcro on the back of his tablet so he can attach it to the wall while he's watching movies! I second Carol Ann though...make sure those things are locked up when not in use.

harry and david has great stuff. The cheeses are awesome.

Bernapet--Unfortunately there is a lot of theft, so make sure any valuables are always locked up so they do not disappear. Especially cell phones, laptops, etc.

Tricia51, he just said all the guys velcro all their things up to save room.  I'm not really sure exactly, but if he gave me an example of velcroing his phone to the wall, it sounds like regular ol' velcro. You know how detailed our young ones can be!! LOL I think locker storage hooks and stuff would be helpful too.

Hi all! Tia the season... We got a text of three sentences saying blackout lifted and all is well, things are great aboard and loves his new AE shop. we are sending a box of various flavors of Harry and David moose munch, savory pretzel mix, cookies, yogurt covered pretzels as well as guitar strings and pics and cigars for his AE shop My husband recalls being at sea Off Iran coast in 1978 and getting a pkg. from home that had chocolate and cheese that melted all over the bottom of his package but they were so desperate they licked it out!

Tricia. Where abouts? I'm in pueblo west. My daughter asked for snacks and pedi files for her feet, she said they are so bad already! I sent out 7 boxes for her and her friends today, she also said in her email be ready. To talk this weekend!!!! Yay. Maybe she's gonna get to call!!!

I bet those command strips would be good. I know they're great for college dorms and at home. I bet they might work on the ship. Lots of different choices, not just for hanging pictures anymore

Well, if you need anything Packers I'm your girl! I'm 35 min from the stadium! In fact my son wants a Crosby jersey for Christmas (not Navy son). My husband (USN and USNR retired) says..who EVER wants a kickers jersey?! He is from Chicago but was always a Packer fan and I'm from IN and my brothers were always Packers fans...so go figure!

I think my son mentioned velcro but I think he already has that so I am trying to figure out what to send as well. We should have taken some time while the the boys were home to do this together but they are always here and there seeing friends or studying. Oh well, I work better under pressure..LOL

Glad you all are getting calls and emails! How exciting!

Bernapet, what kind of organizers?  I think I'll send Velcro in his next box.  I get some ideas from his wife because he doesn't communicate much with me (boys) & he will not ask for anything.

B'sNukeMom, here in Colorado Country, we are still enjoying our Bronco Win last night!
