I will inquire of her regarding skirting. My other sister lives there also. Let me know any specifics that should ask.

Oooo JayDee,

We are going to have to keep in touch with your sister through you!!!  If she learns something about our weather she needs to pass it along to you!!!  Just not too sure how bad this might get.  Wondering if we should skirt the trailer or not worry about it.  Of course we don't have any skirting material so we would have to go out and buy something.  Don't want that expense if we don't need it!!!!!

Anna my sister moved to Jacksonville with her Navy husband and is still there. She says she still uses her sweaters and jackets.

Oleander,

You're welcome!!!

JayDee,

I forgot you were a Yankee also.  I have been hearing from locals and those that have stayed at this RV park for years that is does get cold here in Jacksonville in the winter and that the majority of the snow birds (especially those from Canada) travel further south into the middle part of the state.  That's why hubby and I were surprised to find that this park had openings for the winter season - we were afraid they would have been all booked up!!!!  I guess we'll find out!!!

Anna -- you are so right! I'd just like to take this opportunity to thank you and your husband for your service.

Anna, we spent Christmas in Florida in 2005 while my husband was working Hurricane Katrina.  We were in the Lake Mary area and I remember wearing a sweater and pants to church on Christmas Eve.  The days were sunny and mid-70's and the evenings were cool enough that us Yankees felt like it was Christmas.  I hope you enjoy your tropical holiday!  :)

Thank you for all the good vibes!!  I have passed them all on to Jenn.  She is a happy camper right now.  Funny thing - since she's been on med hold the squadron she will eventually go to after this last bit of training took her on a TAD status to work in a security office where she has to maintain every squadron member's security status.  This also covers anyone who has any kind of issue, drinking, financial problems, etc... that could cause her to pull their security since their mission is very top secret.  She has worked her butt off getting everyone's files up to date, pulled the clearance of a chief select, which has heads rolling, and has been getting this office in tip top shape!!  She was made acting manager (acting because she is not really attached to this squadron yet).  Her CO has been so impressed with her work that when her waiver was accepted he told the training squadron they couldn't have her back until January because of a big Navy inspection of their security office coming up the end of December.  The CO will get a big feather in his cap if they pass and everyone knows it's all on Jenn!!!  She's ready!!!

JayDee,

That picture is AWESOME!!!!  Can't you just see them sharing some of the same places there at Great Lakes.  Like when Jenn went to OCS and would share with her Dad some of the areas that are still the same!!!  Like I said - Goose Bumps!!!!!!  But sorry about losing your brother!!  That must be difficult still around holidays but now I'm sure you are just so proud of him.  Us Vietnam veterans never did have the kind of support our troops have now!!!

Oleander and Spyder,

I've never been in Florida over the winter months before and I'm curious to see what the weather will be like!!  Personally I like it when it gets cold at night but it still is so warm during the day.  Sometimes too warm.  It's hard to get in the spirit of Christmas decorating when you're sweating!!  I guess a part of me misses the frigid northeastern part of the country!!!!  However, for trailer life - - - hot is good!!!!  Trying not to turn on the air conditioners again!!!

Comment by Oleander on December 1, 2015 at 2:12pm

Right spyder? Kind of lucky -- cool enough to cook a turkey on Thanksgiving without having to have the air conditioning on and chilly enough at night to make it feel like the holidays. That's a treat! LOL

Way to go Jenn! Anna, its been a long time coming but she finally got it!
Sounds like you're getting better slowly...pia but at least you're improving.:).
Oleander, mid 30s here too but guess we shouldn't complain since high 60s tomorrow which is wonderful!
Hope everyone else are doing well.
