Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Storm's Whisper, Since he didn't make an "I'm here!" call, he MAY be able to make a make up call. Keep your phone available at all times for the next week. That call in about 3 weeks (most have gotten one before week 4) may come before or after that. See Phone Cards and Phone Calls. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening and what to expect.

Mine called when he landed in Chicago. Now I'm waiting on the phone call when he arrives at RTC. This is so very hard!

My son left yesterday. I have cried almost all morning. We raise our children to be responsible adults and then when they are, we grieve it. I agree with the others about prayers!

My son left Decemeber 1 .. It was very sad the first day cry like baby but, was a lot easier today though can't wait to hear his exciting stories!

Hang in there moms! My son is in his 4th week away and we are 27 days from PIR. It does get easier although that pit in the stomach I'm afraid does not go away, at least mine hasn't. Some days are easier than others. Start writing to them now and when you receive the form letter you you'll have mail ready to go. I try and write daily, they need word from home to encourage them and keep them going. We've done our jobs and now it's time to sit back and watch them soar! Congratulations on raising outstanding citizens.

Hi there. Since you have been thru this, maybe you can give me some advice? My son went to boot camp on December 2nd. Can you tell me will he begin getting letters as soon as I mail them or do they hold them for a week or two before they distribute them? Also, should I send my son stamps with the first letter? Thank you for encouraging us newbies. Your post helped me with a very tough day!
