Hello all. So PIR yesterday. Awesome to see our sailor. He made it to GC a little after lunch today, and as he was struggling to carry A bag, ect and the issue for today he dropped some of his linen. A "C" school student stopped and took half of his stuff and helped our sailor to his room. And then took him to the NEX. Thank you Sailor! What a great welcome!

There is a place in discussions above for where to stay. I rented a two bedroom mother in law cottage 9 min. From base. Had a yard. We had a BBQ with my son and his friends. And my son spent the night there after graduation

Hello all, my son is in Charleston too...he is MM. Just finished his first week of actual classes, and he seems ok. Pretty stressed, but we just keep telling him to relax and give himself time to adjust. I am also looking for someplace close to base to come for a visit if anyone has recommendations.

Nurserenee,
At what point is he in school?  I'm curious because my son just finished INDOC, and A School starts on Monday.
You are in my thoughts, along with your son.

My son is in Charleston. Having hard time keeping up with watch hours. Wondered if this is unusual. I think he is getting a lil homesick. Looking for good place that is reasonable in Charleston to visit him. Thnx

NancyJo I wear my red every Friday too.  I am sure no one notices, but I do and I think about it every Friday as I am getting dressed.

B'sNuke  -- Hawaii does sound wonderful!!!   Is your (ex) Sailor going to go with you to Hawaii?

Comment by NancyJo (NNPTC) on February 5, 2016 at 3:33pm

Oh Tom, that's a sailor's story for sure! LOL

B'sNuke, Hawaii sounds fantastic! Great idea! Sounds like your son is going to be just fine. I'm so glad for you all.

bclmomct, we are all in red here at work for heart health, but I usually have my red on anyway for our military. We are getting little snow sprinkles off and on today. I love the winter. So pretty.

bclmom - I agree!  We are planning a trip to Hawaii the end of May for college son's graduation....wish it was sooner lol, but it's something to look forward to.  I'm just so thankful that everything is working out for (ex?) sailor son now.  He's got options and things are looking up!  Between college & the head hunter he's feeling good ;-)

Yep Tom, that sounds like my son!

Comment by bclmomct on February 5, 2016 at 2:05pm

Sounds like he's doing okay B'sNukeMom.   Hope he has a wonderful time!!!

I think you and your sweetie should take a vaca to just get away.   After all think of all the stress you have been under :-)

Wearing my red today, even though no one will see it because I am home watching it snow.  But better than driving in this stuff.   It became beautiful the minute I knew I didn't have to go out and drive in it.    LIke sitting on the outside of a snowglobe and someone shook it up really hard.
