What does masted mean?
Comment by JayDee659 on February 11, 2016 at 8:04pm
Yes. I understood that it was recent.

Anyone heard about an entire MM Power School Class that was just masted?  My Sailor said there was underaged drinking and others didn't inform, so all 30 in the MM Power School got masted.  His quote was, "They don't play around with that s**t."

I'm hoping this wasn't recent, but LONG AGO.

Joyce,
OH NO!  Sent my Sailor a shipment from Amazon too for Valentines.  His was all protein bars and such.

My MM said he didn't have to go to school tomorrow because they all earned a day off due to a Blood Drive Donation goal that they reached.

Got the strangest text from my son today.  I sent him chocolate via Amazon and it was delivered to NNPT today.  He said he can't pick it up because the mail room is backed up and closed until next week.  So much for all the valentines going to our sailors.

The consensus when my son was in GC was that BestBuy is their BestFriend. Once they get liberty, they love to indulge in electronics. However, care boxes from home make their day. Once they can wear civilian clothes, by all means socks, underwear, and shoes are great.

Maria Michigan Mom - my daughter is just finishing A school this week and here's what I've found by talking to her.  They have everything they "need" it's what they "want".  There are two Nex locations within walking distance of the base.  The Walmart isn't too far (my daughter walks there occasionally with a group).  My daughter said she could always find someone going up town who would give them a ride to the mall or store.  In her experience everyone is pretty generous as they've all been through it.  The first things she asked us to bring her were here bicycle and her own running shoes.  When she came home for Christmas she went back with a load of movies to watch in the common room and some personal stuff but she agreed that she had everything necessary to live - just not some of the creature comforts of home.

Hope it helps.

Boconavymom, my son graduated in BS on January 29th. I was not able to go but I was lucky to find a mom to take his picture. She also sent me a group one and three others of groups of sailors that got awards that I could share with you. If you were at the BS grad I'd love to see your photos to see if you caught my son.

Hello, my son is graduating boot camp on 2/26 and will be going to Nuke school in Charleston, SC.  I have been noticing conversations about items the sailor will need once they arrive at Nuke school.  When are they told this information?  I had the impression that their living needs were taken care of.  Are there items I should be buying to send to him.  He did pack a box of personal items for me to ship once he arrives.  No clothing, but I am wondering if i should send socks, boxers, etc.  Any information is appreciated.  Thank you.

P.S. We have visited him 2 times since PIR in June, and those visits seem to have made a big difference in his outlook!! We went to the beach, downtown, Lake Moultrie. We stayed at Econolodge in N. Charleston, close to Red Bank Rd. It was clean and a very good price, I booked 1 month ahead and prepaid online.
