From what I understand, it has to be the sailor. I have stayed there several times, and my son has always had to register me even though I'd been there before.

Hi Mom's ... we're looking to visit my sailor soon and am thinking of staying at a hotel instead of with them.  (Space would be really tight)  Any suggestions?  Just me and my husband, 5 nights.  There's a possibility that he might be on detachment when we arrive  :(  So ... If it's a military hotel can his wife check us in or does it have to be him?

Sugar02 My Son has been in Oahu, Hawaii for about a year and a half and he and his buddies love it! Goodness! It feels like a lifetime though! I would have said four years bc that is what it feels like.  They make tight friendships in the Navy and they go out in groups with whom ever in their boat is available; not on duty and finally you will start getting pics of the sand and sea and them having fun. Boat meaning Sub. I'm sure you are learning a lot about their acronyms and what they call different things.  You will get used to it. No you won't, but at least you have this group here at Navy for Moms who will help and listen and cry with us and laugh with us and we can just let loose bc we all understand why our hair is growing prematurely gray or grayer for us who already have gray hair HAHAHAHAHA  we laugh instead of crying sometimes but we all celebrate our boys' achievements together and are happy together. So keep asking questions and whom ever gets to read the post may respond. If we don't respond, know we are praying for you and your Sailor.  Sometimes this group is quiet specially when we are worried, but don't forget. We are all going through the same. Just check in and someone will answer :D BIG NAVY MOM HUG FOR YOU and your Sailor! HOOYAH!

MRSB, I MISS YOU!!!! God bless your Sailor and Your Marine!!!!! :) BIG HUG and love to you my friend!!

Hi all ! I'm new to the group- my son will be transferring to HI in August. Are your sailors happy there?

Love the "Mom" room...;)) Anyone here with a married Sailor looking for housing... with a little Sailor-to-be and two kitties...;)) He is Sub, Nuke.

tysmom- That is hysterical! I hope you told him "you can bet on it!" And then you could rent out the room to all of us other Mom's....even funnier ha ha ha!

My son has looked into housing too. He doesn't have a high enough rate as yet to live off of base, but it doesn't mean he isn't curious. He has also quoted the same amount for rent.

I am not real informed about housing, but I think when my son shared a house it was about $2500 also. Nice neighborhood though. I think the Navy would have some info.

I told my son when he returns from deployment I would help him find a house, but he says I would be looking for one with a "mom" room, he  is probably right hehehe!!!

Good morning. I'm new to this group. My sailor is being stationed in HI in March. Based on some of the postings, he should probably look for off base housing. He and his wife leave for HI on 3/3. Are there any lessons learned you can share about the moving experience, or a nice place to live with other military families, maybe a popular community they can check out when they arrive?

Hey Allie, thank you so much for the info...passing it along as we speak!!! Haha!!! Have to check my emails about 1000 times and I still end up sending mistakes!!!
