Good morning ladies!  For those of you who have Snapchat on your phones, there's a Navy filter so you too can wear an officers cap.  My daughter just sent me a picture using the filter, of course she's already wearing her NSU's so it's kind of funny.  Hope you all have a great Tuesday!

Omg MBSMomx2, that just brought tears to my eyes!

A's mom, so excited for you! Bring tissues and enjoy every second. It's amazing!

Trojan's 12, Anna and A'sMom are right - cry, vent, celebrate and come here for support and to share. Every step of this journey is emotional and everyone here understands. Do your best to enjoy these next few days and make memories that will help you both get through bc. I cried every day for weeks before she left (in the shower), and was a mess after she left. It's who we are. We love our daughters and sons : )

Anna - we're definitely getting together this winter. In early July my sailor's ship goes underway for 3 months. After that .... who knows but when she's in port I'll be making trips to San Diego. And if she's underway or deployed I see a road trip there to hug you for all your support!

A'sMom,

Three weeks!!!  This is the exciting time as you make plans to go to PIR!!!  I'm hoping you will be traveling to IL??

mysailormeg,

If they post pictures maybe you can copy some and share with us here!!!

MainemomJulie,

That was the first rate my son did his first 4 years!!  He was attached to a squadron and had two deployments on aircraft carriers in the Gulf.  Other deployments were in the states.  I hope she loves it and gets to do some fun stuff!!!!

Oleander,

The knee is just going to have to wait until next winter when we settle in southern CA for several months.  It needs surgery but the Jacksonville VA just took too long to have me see an ortho specialist.  But I'm recovering nicely so we move on!!!!!!  Your ideas for celebrating with your daughter sound like my kind of special mommy/daughter time!!!

Trojans12,

Hang in there momma!!!  I wish I could tell you an easy coping mechanism but I just don't think there is one!!  It's ok to cry and to feel a loss, because in a small way, it is!!!!  Come here often and let us know how you're doing!!!!

This will be the best Mother's Day ever!  And how cool that it will be the anniversary of PIR moving forward... love that.

Comment by Oleander on May 2, 2016 at 11:33am

Morning everyone!

Wow, great stuff over the weekend.

Congratulations MaineMomJulie, that IS exciting news!

MBSMomx2, how do you do it? Having 1 child leave for the Navy was hard on me, I literally cannot imagine having 2 leave! Kudos to you!

Anna - I thought the surgery was on your knee. So how is the healing process coming along?

I'm very excited about this upcoming weekend! I'm flying into San Diego to spend Mother's Day weekend with my Sailor PLUS Sunday is her 1 year PIR anniversary. We're brainstorming plans - maybe brunch, maybe walks on the beach....even if we just hung out in our room, watched movies and got room service I'd be happy : )
