Hi guys! I really needed somebody to help me regarding details on getting married during A school. My sailor will be on Phase 2 nextweek. He stays in Great Lakes for A school. We are planning on getting married before he gets his next orders so that I will be included in it. Moving on my own hurts my pocket and I dont think it's a practical choice. I say that because I have heard/ read that if you will be married after he gets his orders, it will be hard for you to move with him wherever he gets stationed. Whereas if you get married before even receiving his orders, you can be added in it and moving with him will be much more easier. Any advice/ recommendations from you guys?

Thank you so much! I appreciate it! Anyway, how is IL right now? I assume you may know since you live near by. My sailor has always been telling me it isn't safe out there.. A lot of abduction and other crimes has been rampant.. It scares me especially it'll be my first time going there on my own...

So this is anecdotal & only based on one A school class (my son's), but all of the overseas assignments were given to single sailors.  This is a good thing. Sailors below E3 (maybe E4?) are given unaccompanied orders for overseas. And if they get married after the orders are issued it doesn't matter - they will be unaccompanied the whole time.  Of course everything is needs of the Navy, but it did appear that marital status was considered. So my advise would be to get married as soon as you can if you plan on getting married.

Thank you! My sailor is an E3.. I hope we will be able to have all of the neccessary marriage requirements, especially his because I know it's gonna affect his class hours accomplishing those.
It is not that you will be added to the orders, the orders will be issued as "accompanied" with a dependent move authorized. Since junior sailors cannot take their dependents overseas, those orders go to the single sailors more often.
Four weeks is a good minimum lead the. More is better.
Yes, he needs to suit aspecial request chit to marry, easy. Yes, there is a class
Yes, he can put in for you to be his liberty buddy.
Google Lake County marriage license to see what the county needs. I'd provide the link but I'm back on my phone only for a few days.
A 14 week School will assuredly be longer.
Thank you so much AntiM!! Big help! He just got the paperworks handed to him updating his file regarding having a fiancée. He said it is a lot! Geez! I hope he can still focus on studying while accomplishing the requirements.

Oh, he can, it is what the Navy teaches sailors to do, multi-task with attention to detail.  Just wait until he gets to a ship and not only has to do his job, but study for advancement and his quals.

Most new sailors haven't figured out that the Navy is learning and studying the entire time they're in....
