He told me maybe 2 weeks or more. But the good thing is he has received his order and got the graduation date. Good luck to your sailor!

Thank you yc214!  It's always nice to have some idea of a timeline.  I wonder how long your husband's hold for ATT school will be?

Hi Megs2447, my husband is an EM. He started A school on March 4, before the BECC began he was on hold for two weeks. He has finished BECC last week and currently on hold for ATT School. He will graduate on July 11. It takes at least 4 months to finish A School and it would take longer if having longer hold time.

Hello!  Quick question: I know ETs have long hold times, and should expect to be at Great Lakes about a year.  HOWEVER, my sailor is an EM...does anyone know the typical timeline for that rate?  He started BECC on April 14th.  Thanks!

Thanks Anti M

I have snacks and he asked for dryer sheets. Gift cards are an excellent idea but at this point it doesnt seem as though he can get anywhere other than the NEX on base to shop and the prices seem inflated.

Before sending food, ask your sailor if their barracks allow it. Send food and toiletries separately, as the scent can transfer. No alcohol, and once they get to a ship, no cologne or perfume with alcohol. No candles. Use USPS flat rate boxes. Don't bother with overnighting, all packages still go to the mailroom rather than directly to the sailor. Avoid high value items. In general, not too much "stuff", they can't leave it out, and have to haul it around when they move.
Gift cards to local restaurants are a great idea, or spa days/massage.

@blondefaith : What kind of things are you sending? I would like to do something as well, but didn't really know where to begin.

I am ready to send a package to my son at Great Lakes. Are there any specific instructions I need to be aware of?
