My son is part of the June 2016 group.  I see some of you leaving comments on past messages, and thought I'd open up one for this year!

I'm so excited and proud - and of course also a little scared and sad.  Over the holidays, I kept thinking...this is the last time I KNOW all my kids will be home for the holidays.  I feel extra pressure to make sure each holiday is special for him, since I feel like this marks the end of his 'childhood'.

It's silly - I have 2 older daughters who have already crossed this point - but this is my first child to be LEAVING us!

I look at all the opportunity ahead...and the challenges.  I just can't wait to see what the future brings!

Yes, Christmas was especially hard this year!  Mine will be at bootcamp for his birthday -- he's my only so I'm praying for God to prepare me!  I am so proud he's taking this step BUT the Momma in me is terrified.

Christmas was tough. My 18year old who had never really bought a present in his life, brought me a beautiful heart pendant. I was the only one who got a present this Christmas because he wanted me to have something extra special knowing it would probably be his last at home. Just him saying that made me cry like a little baby. While there are still moments that he comes back to depend on me to do or for answers, he had grown & changed so much in these past few months. He's my only child, an older mother without his biological father's support. And yes, this Mama is having to pray that my thoughts are captured by Jesus every minute.

My son is also part of the June 2016 group.  I keep thinking with everything that happens, "this is the last time".  We are taking a big vacation over spring break - one last "family" vacation.  Never know when we will all be able to vacation together again.  I also have two older children, but this is my baby and the only one who is actually "leaving"

He takes his dive test tomorrow and I can't even tell what my emotions are - I feel confident he will pass, but I am scared what it will do to his confidence if he doesn't!

Hi my son leaves in june for bootcamp, I'm proud, but sad...

My son is also part of the June 2016 group he leaves June 1.  I am happy to have found this information to help get prepared for the date.  There are so many emotions involved it is a little overwhelming.

I am sure I will be checking in frequently to get advice and support

So my son came home from his DEP meeting last week with the news that his ship date had been moved up. 5 WEEKS. I almost died. Seems another kid had trouble of some kind and they moved my son to his spot. They asked him of course but he agreed without talking to us about it. He is 18 so didn't need our permission of course but still. Now I get no last family vacation which we already had scheduled for the third week of June and he leaves two weeks after his high school graduation. I'm really not handling this well. I guess I switch my membership to this group now. He leaves June 6.

My son is leaving June 21st. It's so crazy how I can be so proud and so sad at the same time :(

My grandson leaves at the same time,I'm very proud of him and what a breve decision and smart decision he made. He is my first grandchild he has a sister, I'm going to miss him am happy he is doing what he wants❤️

My son is to be leaving June 21 as well. I "resemble that remark" as my brother used to say. My son is my only child, however I have a couple of older stepsons, one of which is getting out of the Army next week. I went thru his leaving & being deployed three times, While we were close, it's different when it's your own flesh & blood & I'm an older mom.

Any body else leaving June 21st? Mine is leaving from Montgomery AL. He has his last DEP meeting this evening.

My son leaves June 21st from Minneapolis, MN. It's starting to hit me now :(

Me too, and I think it is hitting him too. He hasn't slept well the past few nights. And of course when your baby hurts, is upset, can't sleep, it makes Mama a little anxious too, Got to not just put it in God's hands, but LEAVE him there  kinda like Hannah did. Need to learn to practice what I preach as well!
