Frances, the ten tries are counted beginning with the first one after the recruit is ASMO'd to FIT.

? Do they start counting the tries that they get when they go to fit or do they add in the original 3 tries

MBSMomx2  so glad to hear that your daughter passed! I could not get into this site and it drove me crazy! Frances your daughter will pass, keep the faith. It seems like they do better on Wednesdays and Fridays. I think it is because they have down time on the weekends and it takes a day to get back to speed. My sailor had to cut 2 minutes from her time. It just about killed me waiting for the, “I am a Sailor call!”  Mine came on a Wed afternoon and she was not crying but I was! It was her next to the last attempt. She is now at her duty station and just had to redo her PFA, she passed but I still worried! Have your daughter pick someone to chase that is faster than she is. They call it, “Chasing the bunny!” They chase that bunny and it is their only goal. They don’t worry about the time just catching the bunny. Georgiagurl43 I know that they do have a ton of help for the recruits who are having trouble with the float or the swim. They work really hard to get them through it. A lot of it is mental, do you swim? If you do go to the pool and try the float, looking down and seeing the bottom so far down does make you panic! It will help you understand what he is going through. If you haven’t started sending mail do. It raises their spirits and helps a tone. It also made me feel like I was helping!! I will keep both of them in my thoughts and prayers.

The address to write to your recruit in FIT is Ship 4, 3600 Ohio Street, Great Lakes, IL 60088-7103. Put "FIT Division- Male" or "FIT Division-Female" in place of the Division Number or use Ship 4 Div 2347 (for those who failed the run by less than a minute), or Ship 4 Div 2444 (for those who failed the run by more than a minute), or Ship 4 Div 2381 (for those who failed any part of the swim test).
