MBSMomx2,

Yay for hearing from your girl!!  And congratulations for your son's upcoming PIR!!  Will your girl take leave to come home after A school.  That's usually the first chance they get to take some leave!!!

Roliesmom,

Yes, I made a vow several years ago to never wear polyester pants again!!!!!!

Oleander,

Congratulations to your daughter!!!  That is awesome!!

Anna, that is a great story!! Sorry I couldn't help but to laugh. When my sailor swore in, I wore polyester capri's and siting on the vinyl/leather/pleather what ever kinda chair it was, I could feel the sliding going on. But my sliding wasn't side to side, I was sliding downwards. I don't think it was too noticeable because (that's what I like to think, lol) my hubby never said anything or maybe he thought I was just adjusting. I will say this.....sweating makes it worse! Lol, funny times!!!

That's a great story Anna, thank you! I'm going to print that out and let her read it when she gets home! I'm sure she's having a few choice moments of her own. Can't wait to share them with you.

Did I tell you she made the flight deck firefighting crew? She was pretty excited about that. Wonder how much she's been on the flight deck during this underway & training. We'll soon find out.

Oleander,

I have one and only one experience with being on a Navy ship - feel free to share this humorous story with your girl if you wish.  In order to make 3rd class Petty Officer as an OS I had to have some shipboard time in CIC on a ship.  Women weren't allowed on ships yet so my CO made arrangements for me to go onboard a ship that was doing a dependent's cruise off San Diego.  (This was back in 73)  So we're underway and I'm in the interior of the ship in CIC sitting at a radar scope getting qualifications signed off.  I had to wear civilian clothes because of  "women in uniform" not being allowed on a Navy ship!!!  I was wearing polyester pants and, well I couldn't figure out how to keep from falling out of the seat!!!  I had to hang on with two hands and then try to do stuff!!!!  It was so embarrassing!!!!  I'm sure the other OS guys had a good laugh over that one!!!!!!

Morning!

Great news Anna! Thanks for letting us know. You must be feeling so relieved.

We received a fb message yesterday from our girl. Apparently they're underway is being extended for 1-3 days. She sounded good, hasn't gotten sea sick (always a bonus) but looking forward to getting back to SD. Even better news is that her leave was approved so she'll be home June 3rd for 10 days.  Yes!  I'm sure I'll hear a ton of stories then and will surely share : )

Have a great day everybody.

Anna - glad that you heard from your son and that all's well!  He'll have some unique pictures I'll bet.

Oleander,

Waiting to hear how it was for her!!!  Hope you can share some stories!!

Heard from my sailor son - he is well!  No major eruptions to worry about for now!!!  He does see more clouds over the mountain than usual tho!!

Morning everyone!

Welcome MamaK, my daughter is stationed in San Diego. She graduated A school last July, has been there since August and absolutely loves it there. I hope your daughter will also!

Just got word that they've been extended and won't be back into port until Friday -- so 2 more days till she's back. So looking forward to hearing how they all did out there.

Have a great day all!

MommaK,

Happy to see you here!!  I've never had a daughter deploy (yet), but my son is on his 5th deployment.  Do you know if her ship is scheduled to go out in the near future?  Most of today's ships have their own facebook page so you could search there and see if they talk about going out.  Your daughter could end up being on her ship for several months and never leaving San Diego.  You just need to find out what the ship's plans are.

I know this isn't telling you much but hopefully it will help a little bit!!!
