Nancy Jo Thanks for the prayers.  Our sailor entered the Navy November 2,2010.  Prototype grad was November 29,2012  He has been with the IKE since February 2013 at which time they deployed until July of that year.  (The ship had been out for maybe 10 months, came in for flight deck refinishing,  Dec-Feb then back out with our sailor.) He re enlisted during the time of his first deployment so at this time his commitment is 8.5 years.  He is a MMN1, Just found out he advanced to first class last week.

If I remember correctly,  we (you, I, and 2 other IA navy moms) had tried planning a get together somewhere in IA about 2 years ago.You are in Nebraska, yes?

MN Mom, I will hold you and your sailor in my prayers. Is this your sailor's first deployment? I confess I don't know what the IKE has been doing. Fair winds and following seas as they make their way to less friendly shores.

You and I are both old-timers in this group. I remember when we first started but I think my sailor has been in a little longer than yours, or am I wrong? I delivered my sailor to MEPS on May 12, 2010.

I have been busy watching the USS Eisenhower page and videos of their departure.  My sailor is has been with the Mighty IKE since 2/2013.  Thanks for all  your prayers for God's hedge of protection over the 7000 sailors heading east to replace the USS Truman and also for the 7000 who will then be heading west to their families and loved ones who have been missing them for the past 7+ months.

Boy, it's quiet in here without B'sNuke's daily dose of good cheer. I'll be glad when she is back.

Facebook tells me that the Captain of the Carl Vinson has been replaced. I will miss Captain Thomas. He was so good at keeping us informed about all their doings. that is priceless when your sailor isn't a good communicator like mine. Fingers crossed that the next captain is a good one.

Thanks NancyJo!  You know I'll take lots of pics lol!

NonnaB - enjoy your time with your sailor!

Son is not back in port for a day and wants to visit his Mama. Little does he know that he will be forced into helping with the pool opening and possibly the assembly of the new shed and the relocation of the old shed. But at least all these chores will be on terra firma. And, he must deal with the insanity of his Mama being on call on this sacred weekend.
