For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

What an Aviation Maintenance Administrators (AZ) does: The duties performed by AZs include, but aren't limited to: scheduling aircraft inspections; keeping charts that show trends in aircraft system reliability; organizing and operating libraries of technical publications, reports and related maintenance data; issuing aircraft inspection and work orders; performing a wide range of clerical and administrative duties related to aircraft maintenance, such as preparing reports and correspondence, filing and typing; performing data base and system analysis; maintaining aircraft and engine logbooks, and associated records.

Comment by HeatherS on July 13, 2017 at 11:55pm: He was told that he would be on a carrier for sea duty and is hoping for Norfolk as a base since we all live on the Rast Coast. His recruiter told him he would have to choose between Norfolk and San Diego (I think). I apologize for my uncertainty. I'm still new at this. I know the other choice was a West Coast base.

Comment by cmm1974tx on July 12, 2017 at 11:15am: Heather- I did not plan to attend his A school graduation at his request, he said it was way smaller on the scale of PIR plus I would have messed up his plans to come home early and surprise me! I took him his car in A school so he had his own transportation and was able to pull the surprise off!

My son was so happy to see Meridian in his rear view mirror! Good luck to your son! My son finished 2nd in his class and got 2nd pick on the wishlist for his orders. He is currently in San Diego with a squadron. :)

I was told this was an 11 week training, but I am still adjusting to how the Navy counts time. My son had PIR on 6/23, so this will be his third week at Meridian, but first week of class. Thanks!
