Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Here is the link to the FB guam group. I don't know why it is so hard to find. Maybe because it is a closed group? You might have to get the spelling just right with the correct capitals and symbols? GUAM Navy Moms & Family

MK5Diver - Yes, Navy for Mom's rules! And thank you so very much for your input. I envy you to have your son back from deployment! Who knows how much longer I have. It is amazing how precious the little things become. At 2:00 an unexpected phone call telling me to wait by my laptop. A bleary-eyed SKYPE that follows and I'm so happy it feels like a dream.

Hello everyone--I hope you don't mind but I am a father and my son has been stationed in Guam for the past year and a half as a Air Rescue Swimmer. Navy for Dad's is lame so I come here to get info and give info when I can. My son is currently deployed but will be back next week to Guam. He's very excited to return. We stay in touch with him the most using Skype (free). The only times we had difficulties communicating with him was when actually on the ship during deployment. When ever in port where he could get access to the internet he would contact us and Skype with us. We still can't figure how Skype makes money but we are so greatful as he hasn't been back home since going out there! The Skype connection with him in Guam is better than it was with San Diego. We also use WhatsApp and FB Messenger to send messages and photos. My son did get a cell phone and internet account when he got out there. He does have a vehicle there on the island and during deployment had a buddy take care of it for him. You can go to "Combat Squadron Two-Five (HSC-25)" on FB to get to the squadron page. The command is good about posting photos frequently. They also set up FB pages for what ever detachment your sailor heads out with when deployed. Please let me know if I can answer any other questions or help in any way.

Sarah's mom - My son has been in Guam for a little while. He immediately suspended his US phone service and got a local Guam cell phone. He also got Internet as soon as he could. We now SKYPE as our best form of communication. Calls can come at any time.
My son bought a "Guam Bomb" (a not so attractive car to get around in). He was able to get financing for it. Safety features aren't anything like they are here in the U.S. but with a top speed limit of 35 mph on the island, hopefully they will be fine.

Turtlegirl428 ~ I too have searched it EVERY way possible. Can you tell me what the best method (least expensive) to communicate is? My daughter just arrived in Guam yesterday and is having a hard time getting everything "set Up" She took her phone from US and got an international plan but still outrageous priced. Her phone works, a lot of people on here said that phones had to be unlocked and new sim cards but so far hers has worked. I just know we can not afford the international plan.
She is also having a hard time getting around even for little things on base as she did not take her car. Because it is in our name not hers. Now she says she needs to buy something there to be able to get around. I hate being so far away and not being able to help.

Ask to join the Facebook group 'GUAM Navy Moms & Families. It is very active with some mom's that have even been to Guam. If you ask to join watch your other message folder for a reply.

My son just received orders for Guam today. He is looking for information about Guam and getting settled in. He is super excited about being stationed there! Me? not so much...but super happy for him. Lots to learn! Where is the best place to begin to learn about life in Guam??
