Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

You're fine getting on the mailing list. Just don't ask them to have him contact you because you're worried. Lol I had to learn that he would do it in his own time and I wasn't high up on the list. When you get on the mailing list, I think they have to have your son verify you before you start getting the mailings. Sometimes it's info about get togethers more for families in the home port area,I thought it was still fun to know what's going on. When there is a homecoming you'll want to know everything. This group used to be more active. Since facebook started more people seem to be on there. I know that there are PIR groups and some others on facebook but I'm not sure what they're called.

Thank You for the info, I did contact them but asked how to be put on the list to receive the newsletter. I wish I would of known. Don't want him to be upset. Thank You. So does this site get active or not really? Thanks for replying.

It's been a while, 2010, since my sailor flew out to the Eisenhower. I remember it seemed to take a long time to get his email set up so that he could contact me. There is a lot to learn about ship procedure and safety that will keep him busy. Dont do what I did. I called the ombudsman, his squadron contact in the states, and they contacted the ship. The message went up the chain until someone pretty high up told him to email his mom ,she was worried. He was not happy at the time but we laugh about it now. Be patent, he will contact you when he can.

Good Morning All, I am New to this Group, My Son recently finished A school in Great Lakes,  Was flown to be on the USS Theodore Roosevelt, actually first day today. is there anyone out there that can give me any Knowledge. I really don't know what to expect and how it all works. Maybe any Mothers who's Son/Daughter may be on this Carrier at this time to enlighten me. I appreciate it and Thank You.

marmac72   USS Stennis is out on deployment.  My sailor is on USS Nimitz its dry docked.
