Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of July(although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have July ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in July, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves

(Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

So my daughter received same call only they told her October but who knows she pretty devastated. Only couple months but still when you are all geared up for leaving in couple weeks it's a blow...said with budget cuts...

I'm writing this with a broken heart...My daughter was struggling with some separation anxiety in regards to leaving her family and her boyfriend. The Navy decided to cancel her contract saying that she is a risk. They don't want her to get to bootcamp and be sent home because of separation anxiety. I'm devastated and wish I could push her through this initial scary part of leaving her loved ones.

Soooooo great he didn't just go now undesignated!!!!  Worth the wait.   He will get used to the adage in all the armed services "Hurry up and wait!!"   LOL  Nice you get the holidays together and he can also work out longer!

Well, just got some news that has left us a little confused, sort of bummed, and sort of happy.  Our son's recruiter called and said that the Navy has realigned the jobs so now our son's job isn't high priority. He could wait til next February to leave w his current rate, cancel current contract, start DEP all over again, or go in undesignated. He had 2 minutes to choose.  Not a lot of time for a newly 18 year old to decide.  So, our son is going to wait to go to boot camp in February. I want to wish everyone who has a loved one leaving next month, Fair Winds and Following Seas.  I suppose I'll just sit back and wait til February. Just when my stomach was FINALLY getting back to normal.  Such a double edged sword...

22 days for us.  I had his ship date wrong in my original post (he leaves July 12th, not the 14th). He remains excited and positive, but we are all 3 having our "moments" of emotion when the reality of separation hits.  Dad and I are busy getting ready for his send off party, and we are really looking forward to our son realizing the support system he has rooting for him back home.

It's crazy the emotions that you go through, and it's so reassuring to be a part of a group of Moms that are feeling the same things!

24 days to go and he just started to get nervous today. He has a friend leaving for army bootcamp tomorrow so she had her going away party saturday and he saw her get emotional. I think it really finally hit him that this will be him soon. I can't be more proud of him for this but I know it's going to be an emotional rollercoaster. I'm really glad I have all these different groups for support. Nobody really knows what your going through unless they've done it themselves. ⚓️❤️

20 Days and my youngest of 5 leaves to Great Lakes he is really excited about going so much to ask for a earlier leave date. As long as he is happy I am happy for him we are so proud of him.

20 days and counting for me and mine. Can't imagine the house without his face and sense of humor! Car insurance and grocery bills will decrease for sure.

33 days and counting til son #2 leaves for GL.  Son #1 is somewhere undersea and HOPEFULLY adjusting well.  Now to figure out what to do to stay busy so I don't drive myself and my husband  crazy!

If you have a future Sailor who is going to be in an 800 division, let me know in a comment on my My Page or in a PM (or comment in a friend request) and I will connect you with others with loved ones who will later be in the same division. DON'T openly post your future Sailor's contract or division number. Those with a future Sailor (or recruit) in a regular division or 900 division can post the division number and can post the contracted rating or field unless it is for one of the Spook ratings, but those with a loved one with a special ops contract should NEVER post that openly. See OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and 800 and 900 Divisions.
