For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by WearsLargeHats on June 30, 2016 at 10:59am: That makes sense. All nuclear vessels have nuclear crew as long as they have nuclear reactors. The article that I saw said that sailors were still being assigned to the La Jolla, and suggested it was considered a good assignment because it could be inside track to remain as an instructor when it becomes a training ship. The article also said that new sailors qualifications were being facilitated with ridealongs on active vessels.

MN Mom - glad that WLH could answer your question. I learn something new everyday lol!

This morning my hubby and both my boys (and one of their friends) left for Boston for 6 days. Hitting up 2 Angel/Red Sox games and getting to enjoy the 4th of July festivities there. I'm a little jealous but it will be a fun "guys" trip. Hubby & the friend are Angel fans, college son is a Red Sox fan and sailor son is a Dodger fan. They are all quite excited to visit Fenway Park (and they are doing a tour of the park too). Wishing them safe travels!

B's... He was referencing someone on the ship getting new orders.

Comment by WearsLargeHats on June 29, 2016 at 9:17pm: The LaJolla SSN-701 is being converted to a prototype training ship, whereupon it will become the MTS-701. That will be a year or two yet, and none too soon. I believe that will be followed by the San Francisco as MTS-711. The Rayburn and the Webster are very old.
