Alicia, JayDee is 100% right! I know it's hard to believe now but you'll look back on this in a few months and be amazed at how quickly the time went by when your girl was in bc, even tho right now it feels like time is crawling! Writing my daughter every day made me feel like I was spending time with her, it helped a lot. Yep, we've all been there but each of our experiences is unique so hand with us here and you'll get lots of encouragement and support.

Alicia it is a big empty hole, but have faith, it will fill in.  I still miss my girl every day but it's not as bad.  Once they get to A school they can text and call and it's wonderful.  You'll get there soon.  Are you writing her daily?  I started a letter on my computer the day she left and added to it every day until I could mail it.  Tip - number your letters as they don't always arrive in order.  Hang in there lady, it WILL get better!!!

Thanks Anna, wish I could've been there but at least I got to seem some great photos! She's had some exciting days; night training with Navy Seals & helo's, then tomorrow they go underway for a month.

Good luck to your daughter Alicia. Keep us posted on her while she in bc.

Congratulations to your sailor Oleander!!  We had a quiet and peaceful 4th!!!  Even got to see some fireworks in the small town north of us!!!  Got home right before the rain and lightning storms!!!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful and safe 4th!

My sailor marched with Pearl Harbor survivor's in yesterday's parade. Very moving, such an honor.

Alica,

My daughter went to flight training in Pensacola several years ago!!!  It's a beautiful place to be sent to.  Do you know when your daughter's PIR is yet?

Comment by Oleander on June 30, 2016 at 12:28pm

Morning. Yes, I saw this unfolding while watching the news this morning. Thank goodness everyone is safe.

Comment by Anna on June 30, 2016 at 12:12pm

I saw where it was given an all clear.  That's the base where my daughter Catherine did her internship last fall.  But I guess it's better that someone saw something and called it in rather than wasting time checking out if it was a drill or not.  Just in case it wasn't lives could have been saved by acting quickly!!!!!

Comment by JayDee659 on June 30, 2016 at 11:38am

Good news is that apparently it was an "active shooter drill" that went wrong.  Somebody didn't know about the drill, saw people with guns and called it in.  Scared the crap out of my because it came across saying "Active Shooter Joint Base..." and that was it.  My daughter is on a joint base so I had to stop and look.  Not hers and thankfully it was nothing - this time.
