Thank you, Bernapet!  I will think on this and watch for ideas!  Please let me know when/where you see current info.

I noticed the new discussion forum has been started for Family Day.  Anyone know anything about this?

Hi Redsmom, I followed 'navy for mom's 7th annual holiday project'(on facebook) last year. There is also a spot on Navy for moms somewhere. Last year the Truman was chosen, so their goal was 1,000's of goodie bags so everyone got one. My mom and and I did 50. We included stuff like snacks, baseball cap, slim jims, hot coco, stationary, pens, Christmas themed things as well. A special address will be sent out for the packages to go to. They usually pick a boat that is deployed. It really puts you in the Chrismas spirit, and I got emails back from sailors who got our bags...it was so neat. I bet we will see something in the next month or so on Navy for moms. I have started collecting now, (mini sewing kits) I found at a great price.

Bernapet, tell me more about the goodie bags.  How can I help?  what needs to be collected?

Saw this today and made me proud!  http://www.businessinsider.com/video-chinas-nightmare-pacific-2016-...

Hey everyone...yes, speaking of goodie bags...(guess I saw it on a different group)...but it got me thinking. I did a bunch for the Truman last year, but because the Truman is home, how will we find out which ship everyone is making goodie bags for? I'm already starting to collect fun stuff!

Bernapet: We did meet as I was leaving the pier with my sailor!
What a zoo! We waited in the parking lot for 1 hour before we were able to leave. Thankfully the car air conditioning worked!
Had such a great visit with our sailor. His leave is next month. It will be good to have him home. Meanwhile, he and a friend just got an apartment off base. Exciting!
So glad it will be much easier to talk/text with him. Seems like those with computer/communication jobs on ship had much better chance to send emails, etc., back home.
I hear it will be quite some time before the Truman has a deployment again. Works for me!

Hi all - Happy Friday!

Lol Bernapet - that's funny with the phone ;-)

I hope you all are enjoying visits with your sailors - or getting ready to!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Hi all, loved seeing the pics with your pins! I met one mom quickly as we waited for our sailors to get off the ship. Wasn't it you 1bodyproof? Funny thing, when I was in the hotel in VA, and my sailor was asleep in the next bed, I actually caught myself not going to the restroom without my phone! I made myself crack up...that will be a hard habit to break! I will get my sailor back home in a few weeks too. So excited.

Thanks - B'sNukeMoM⚓️MM  I figured everyone is busy with their sailors being home.  My son comes home next week, I guess I will be MIA then too :)  Love the letter.

John & Yvonne - that is so nice that you do this for the sailors!  A big thank you to you & your husband for your continued support ;-)

wmg4 - sorry no one has responded to your question yet.  My son is out of the navy now & getting ready to start college and he has gotten help from the VA counselors at the college (he will be going to ODU eventually).  He should ask his command who he should talk to or if he has time take a drive over to ODU.  My son said they were very helpful over there.  It's great that he is starting classes while he is still in!
