B'sNuke,
It's good news that the fire is 40% contained now. The 10% you reported yesterday was heart-breaking! So hope this is over soon.
Hi all - Happy Wednesday! (It's Thursday for me 'cuz I'm taking off Friday - woohoo!)
Pooh'sMom - they haven't said (or at least I haven't heard) what started the Sand Fire. Some better news today, although it's grown to about 38,000 acres it's now about 40% contained. No more loss of life or homes so that's a good thing. We still continue to have the heat though - I don't know how those firefighters do it...It's got to be exhausting.
B'sNuke,
It's terrible about the fires. Were they caused by lightning? I know it's been dry out there. Prayers for the firefighters, and families.
Hi all - It's Tuesday - make it a good one!
It's not quite as hot our way today thank goodness but we still have the fires burning in Santa Clarita - it's up to 35,000 acres & only about 10% contained. They've lost almost 20 homes and one person has lost their life. Please keep the firefighters and the families involved in your prayers!
Carol, I think the first rule of navy travel is you really can't count on anything. Some sailors fly early, some fly later, some fly Sunday even. You just make yourself available and glean every second you can. At O'Hare the USO is fantastic and provides a good place for your sailor to wait. I don't know about Midway. Be ready to give your sailor his/her phone and any other electronics they will want. You will have to ship to them stuff like clothes and what not. Good luck!
Hi all - Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a nice weekend and managed to stay cool.
CoTwin - yes, part of the problem is they have maxed out on space. And I think someone else said if they delete a member it will delete all their comments. So that's not a good thing. One suggestion was to go through and delete some of the little groups that were opened up over time that only have 1 or 2 members and no activity. Problem is it takes time and manpower....
cmomof2 - Did you get the info you needed?
I sure hope my son gets leave after prototype! As you may remember he didn't get any leave at all after Power School, even though he was on grad hold for over 2 months. Fingers crossed!!
I feel extremely lucky that I've been able to see him several times since he's been in GC, even though we live in the PNW. However, I know he is very eager to get home to see his friends, sleep in his own bed, visit his favorite neighborhood spots, be pampered by mom, etc. I'm sure you all understand that yearning.
On another note, I'm sad to hear new members have been unable to join and/or comment. I hope the admins are able to fix the problem or find/recruit the help they need in order to make this wonderful site accessible for all who want to use it. It means the world to those of us who are here. <3
Mine was to leave at around 1 but plane broke so left at 5pm.
