I wanted to share, last Friday was my birthday, my husband woke me up for "breakfast in bed", and when I opened my eyes there stood my sailor with breakfast tray in hand. He took the red eye in from Hawaii, my husband picked him up from the airport and I got the best birthday gift EVER! Hadn't seen him since last Christmas

Hello little Bing. Our son was stationed there for long time he bought a beater car to get around . the base he was on in Kaneohe Hawaii was huge.Car was $2500 was worth about 200 and put lots money into it but he needed to  get to work and didn't want to keep asking for a ride. He sold it when he left for deployment but it was a hassle but u need a car.  I think military should have cars on base the sailors could rent would save them money and headaches. Good luck to your son. Hawaii is beautiful we went for two weeks and loved it.

Have any of your sailors had problems buying cars on the island? When our son arrived on the island he was told he had to buy his own car. It was a huge ordeal trying to find a decent car and someone who would wait for him to get financing. He ended up with a lemon that is going to cost more to get repaired than he pd for it. Wish I would have found y'all earlier for some advice with this

My son arrived last week. This is his 1st duty station and he is enjoying his experience thus far. He stated everyone on his Destroyer has been great and so helpful.

Little Bing. Yes the Hale Koa is a beautiful resort. You can make reservations almost a year in advance. You will need to know your sailors rank and address because they will want that information. The rooms are charged according to your sailors rank, so if he is an E5 it will be less expensive that if your sailor is an E7. The hardest part for me has been coordinating my stay with my son's when he's on a boat so he will be there to check me in.

Little Bing... the Hale Koa is an awesome place to stay in Honolulu. It is for Military only and has a large green space and is on the beach. Reservations can't be made until a couple of months (I think) before your visit. Only stipulation is your sailor has to be there to check you in. You can make the reservation, but he/she must check you in.
