Our son is stationed at NAS Whidbey Island, in a squadron that also deploys several times each yr. I'm not aware of any secure parking area on the air station for deploying personnel vehicles, but in 3 yrs our son hasn't had any problems parking his vehicle in the vicinity of his barracks while he goes on a "det" (short deployment). For the 6 month deployment, we picked up his car at Whidbey and drove it to our house in Oregon to take care of it while he was gone.
Best of luck to your daughter at Whidbey. It's a beautiful area with lots to do. Oak Harbor and the surrounding little towns on the island, as well as Anacortes, are fun to explore. The base has a very nice Navy Lodge as well as a terrific RV park with tent camping as well.
As previously mentioned, traffic in and around Everett, Seattle and Tacoma can be a nightmare.

Thanks for the great tips, Storymom. She'll be traveling on the weekend. We are wondering if she'll need her car there or if we should take her. Her squadron deploys several times a year. Do the have secure places to park POVs while deployed?

Welcome LoveMyUSNKid...lucky you ♥ to have her stationed so close to home! (well, kinda close)  Congrats to her!  Watch out for the scam military vet in the rest area near Olympia on I-5...wants money, because he's out of gas (not) and wearing vet gear & bumper stickers to grab your sympathy.   hand him a bottle of water & ignore :( He's famous for tall tales to get money for gasoline, but just wants your money.  Avoid Tacoma/Seattle/Belleuve 7am-8:30am and 3pm-6:30pm. ( I-5 or 405) especially a Friday evening drive-time. Hope she drives up on a weekend? Ferry to Whidbey should be avoided at afternoon drive, ESPECIALLY Friday Night in the summer.... The Drive to the base is lovely!  Navy On!

Hi, everyone!  I'm new to this group.  My sailor daughter has just finished A-school in Pensacola and will be heading up to Whidbey from Oregon in a few days.  I thought I should do a PCG (Permanent Change of Group), too.

Any tips or things I might share with her for her trip up?

Anna- All things are good. Son's command tour is winding down. He should be at his new job by November. They didn't have to move but chose to take Navy housing so they had to move anyway. It was too good a deal to pass up. 18 years in the Navy and they are finally in Naval housing. LOL. Upside is the kids don't have to change schools at least for a couple of years.

Hello WA/OR NavyMoms!!!  I am back!!!  After my daughter left WA over 4 years ago I drifted away from this group, but now my son is being transferred to Whidbey after returning from his 5th deployment!!  His wife and daughter are already there and set up in base housing, and we are coming for a visit mid-September!!!!!  Looking forward to being back in communications with you wonderful ladies.  My daughter Catherine was just remembering the time several NavyMoms took her and some fellow sailors to dinner at Olive Garden!!! I think it was in 09!!!
