OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

candirad - yes your sailor would have to be assigned to the ship because they sponsor you. My son is on an aircraft carrier so we will board the ship and head out to sea. He did tell me in an email that there will be demonstrations but he didn't elaborate...just said it would be interesting for us. I have no idea how many hours we'll be gone or anything. Just know it's a day cruise....exciting!!!!

Happy Friday my AT Friends!
Have any of you been on a Friends & Family Day Cruise? How about you BeachBunny? With all the carriers your son has been on perhaps you've gotten to go? I'm going on one in the near future and was wondering what to expect. My son is underway right now so I haven't been able to talk to him over the phone to ask questions. I'm super excited about the whole thing!

Hey Ladies...
I can only tell about my sailors experience....when he got the orders to travel from C school (east Coast) to home base (west coast) the Navy prepaid travel experiences, direct deposit into his account when he got the orders. There's a set amount for gas (mileage travel per day to get to the est days), est hotel rate and food. I don't know the amount, thinking it was $120 a day. He got to make choices on hotels and food stops. He was traveling with a buddy, they each had their own car. But they would share the hotel room. They stayed at cheaper Motels. When given the "set number" of days to travel and they show up early. The Navy will take away, out of their paycheck, the "reused" travel funds.
When traveling please remind them to put their sea bags in the room with them. As many have had them stolen from their cars. Not a good way to start a new deployment or assignment having to scramble around replacing uniforms and patches. Another good thought is personal property insurance. It's cheap thru USAA and covers items stolen, lost or damaged when traveling, in barracks or on a ship. It's about $6-10 a month of a $15K policy....just a thought.

I am absolutely no help at all. My son went from Pensacola to home (Lemoore) for C School and his car was waiting here. He went back to Pensacola to get his now bride but that was on vacation. I do have another son in San Diego and my Navy son went down there and stayed on the base and had a great time. I would love to live in San Diego! Sorry I can't give any details on per diem except that I would assume mileage is a whole different reimbursement from the per diem rate(s).

My sailor is driving from Pensacola to San Diego for C-School. The Navy has allotted him 6 days. Does anyone know how this works? Do they pay him per diem for meals and incidentals and the military rate for a hotel? What if he can't get the military rate at a hotel? How does reimbursement work then? Also, does he get mileage or is that included in per diem? Many thanks in advance for any information.

Hooyah vacation with your Sailor!! Doesn't get any better than that!
For the first time in several years my Sailor is not out at sea. He headed to the mountains and doing some hiking this weekend. Funny how they miss Mother Nature after being out at sea so long!
