Hi all - Happy Wednesday!

NancyJo - boy if I could get away I would head to Omaha to visit you :)  Use the time to do something for yourself.  When my whole gang headed to Boston over 4th of July I spent some "me" time - by the pool, reading, hanging with the dog, giving myself a nice "foot soak" lol.  Even got some items that had been laying around sorted through - boxed up & in the garage & some for donations!  Actually felt pretty good.

J's/S's - from what I hear your sailor should love WA!  And it will be a nice vacation place for you all to visit ;-)

Patti - glad that the nurses are taking such good care of your dad, but yea that sure pulls at the heartstring to hear him say that.   Continued hugs to you my friend.

Comment by NancyJo (NNPTC) on August 31, 2016 at 8:37am

Oh PattiP, that breaks my heart. Dear man! It sounds like he is getting excellent care. So hard! Hang in there. {{hugs}}

J's/S's, never a dull moment with your crowd! Best wishes to your new nuke. I hear WA is beautiful. Hope you get out to visit him soon. And now another out of the nest going to college. Time sure flies.

All my children and their families are heading to Nevada to spend the long weekend with their dad. I am childless and I don't like it. They're all adult but when they aren't around I notice. And my grandbabies...oh well, this time with him is important since they don't know how long they will have him. They have arranged a professional photographer to get pics with him. I'm looking for ways to fill my time. Anybody want to come to Omaha?

My little Simon is doing great. The incision site doesn't seem to be bothering him at all. Now, I'm glad to be home but really missing everyone I left behind.

At the kids's birthday party Saturday some sailors came with their kids. Some of you may remember mommajo...her son is on the Vinson with my sailor but will be relocating to be senior staff in GC soon. So great to see him again! I love seeing all those sailors together. Being a nuke can be hard but mamas, rest assured a camaraderie exists between the sailors. It was heartwarming to see. No female sailors came to the party but my sailor related a story about one of his fellow nukes and I could hear the respect in his voice as he spoke of her. It made me feel good and I wanted to share that with all of you.

PattiP, I want you to know that I am keeping you and your dad in my prayers.

Hi all - Happy Tuesday!

Well my son made it through his first week of college.  He's already met with a tutor and was there on Sunday when he texted me.  He said he plans on spending lots of time with the tutor so he can stay on top of things - I told him to think of it as "mandatory study hours" lol.  I'm just glad he has good study habits now.

My mom is doing better - still having the headaches but not quite as bad.  Each day it's a little better.

NancyJo - How is little Simon doing now?  Hopefully he healed up well and soon it will all be a distant memory!

Patti - hope this week is another good week for your dad ;-)

NancyJo - so glad little Simon is doing better now!  Poor little guy - I can't even imagine how scary that would be :(  I'm glad you are able to be there to help out - I'm sure your sailor & DIL appreciate the help!  Of course it wasn't quite the vacation you planned but that's ok - you still get time with them ;-)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi Everybody, I'm visiting my sailor and his family in CA but have just tried to catch up on a few posts. Holy cow, COTwin, you continue to amaze me. You are what I want to be when I grow up. I'm so happy all is going well for you.

B'sNuke, oh my, your poor mom. Prayers that there are no more setbacks.

Well, excitement here. Two days before I left for CA my little 11-mo-old Simon swallowed 9 little magnetic earring backs of his 4-yr-old sister. 8 of them clumped together but a 9th was floating free. Those suckers are strong and they were worried that the rogue magnet would damage or tear through intestinal walls to get to the other 8 so he had surgery to remove them. Successful but he was hospitalized 5 days. Poor baby. All is well now thank God. Simon is one of my sailor's babies. So, we are staying close to home but  I don't mind. I'm with my babies and that makes me happy.

I probably won't be back on until I get back home. I miss my sea sisters!! Later!

Hi all - Happy Friday! I really feel like this cat this Friday ;-)

Thanks all - my mom actually had a better day yesterday.  She was able to be up & around for a few hours before her headache got the best of her.  Slowly but surely she's getting better!

Patti - glad your dad is having a good week.  Let's hope it continues!

My son says his calculus class is going to be the tough one.  It's a 5 unit class and he has it 4 days a week.  He says it's like power school all over again lol!  Starting out with calculus & chem - ugh (not to mention his other classes). Better him than me!

Hope everyone has a great Friday!
