Any current (to date) navy moms with sailors on the Nimitz?

I have a sailor on the USS Nimitz, over 1 year now.

How do you find out exactly what day they will be pulling into port??

Comment by Nancy on December 3, 2013 at 10:53pm

Saw that the USS Nimitz is "transiting the 3rd fleet area of responsibility", so I googled where that was. It's just off the west coast!  Our sailors are almost home!!  Hooray!!

There is a FB parent's page for the Nimitz which seems to be more active and up to date with info.

Good evening fellow Nimitz mamas!  Got to see some great pictures my son was able to post on Facebook last week.  After 78 days without a port, they finally got to get off the ship for awhile.  Pretty cool huh?  I know my son was SO ready to get off the ship for awhile.

I get lot of great up dates from govdelivery.com  If you google sign up for gov delivery you'll get right to it.  I get a photo of the day and Navy news.  It keeps me up to date on where they're at.

Still wish I knew when they were coming home though....  *sigh*

Hello! We were in Everett in March for the USS Nimitz deployment. Were able to get on base with my daughter-in-law because she has a naval ID. She had to take us inside the gate and go back to pick up more family member. You will need someone with a military ID to get you through the gate. I would try to make arrangements before you get there. Also, everyone in your party will need propr IDs. The guards do check them upon entering. I hope you can male their homecoming. Their deployment was sad. But one of the most proud moments and amazing things I have ever seen.
