Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on June 19, 2012 at 9:01pm: If anyone in this group lives within driving distance to New Port Richey FL (surrounding areas include Holiday, St Petersburg, Clearwater etc I will be there on vacation and I am going to have a get-together for all of my navy Mom friends who would like to join us on Wednesday afternoon/evening. I will have goodies/food and we can all sit around (or in if you prefer) the pool and just have a fun time getting to know each other and talking about our recruits and Sailors. If anyone is in that area and would like to join us please send me an email and let me know. My hubby will be away on a fishing trip and we were gonna do it Monday because he wants to be there but that is our 1st wedding anniversary <3 So, I would love to have you join me and others and you will get to meet my Sailor as well :-) The date is Wednesday June 27th. If you would like to meet but that afternoon or evening isn't good for you let me know and we will set up a another time while I am there :-) I am so excited to meet some of my navy Mom friends!!! My son's divison won Hall of Fame as well and my son- carried the hall of Fame flag for his division - Div 186 - we were the division with all the loud folks - LOL!! all the way at the end. LOL!!. It was a great great great weekend. I met many of you especially those staying at the Courtyard Marriott Waukegan - great hotel and great Navy families there. We can't express how great the weekend was. As a new military family we were amazed at the love they have for our young Sailors. My son stayed at Great Lakes for A Training School and the yes indeed please have a GPS handy if you want to get around. THat has to be the largest base I have ever seen in my life. LOL!!

My highlight of the weekend was Saturday when we took our Sailor to the Navy Pier in Chicago for the day for a family outing before we headed back to Wash. DC and he stayed at Great lakes - CONSTANTLY, CONSTANTLY - he was stopped and asked to shake hands and take pictures because he was their hero - my mother and I was in tears. This 9 year old lil girl (i posted the pictures on facebook) just came up to my son in his Navy uniform and said Can I shake your hand, you are my hero. And he just smiled from ear to ear and said - Yes Ma'am, thank you ma'am...I was so so so proud of my son.

So if you haven't had your PIR yet and your son or daughter is fortunate enough to be in the Great Lakes/Chicago area the Saturday after their PIR take them to the NAVY PIER in Chicago so they can exerpience that as well - it really helped my son put it in perspective how important they are to all of us as their fellow Americans. My son had never experienced perfect strangers coming up to him asking to shake his hand and take pictures with him because he was serving his country in the Navy & therefore a hero in their eyes -- TALK ABOUT A MOMENT for me as his mom, and my mom (his grandmom) my sister (his aunt) and my daughter (his sister) we were all in tears :-)))) !!
