Hello all! Happy Memorial Day and thank you and your sailors for your service and dedication to our country!
Today is a great day! My son arrived at NAS last night and said he had the best 8 hours of sleep he's had in 2.5 months :) he has one room mate and the room seems spacious with 2 desks and 2 dressers that I could see in pics! There are 3 beds but so far it's just the 2 guys. He's been texting off and on all day which is the absolute best thing in the world right now. They toured the grounds and shopped at the NEX so far. He was able to check in unlimited bags and carry on 2 so everything I took him went with him! I'm going to need alot of your wonderful support for the next year or so! His rating is AE for sure. Does this mean he goes to C school after for sure?

Hi all, getting closer to PIR here :) question: What will my son need right away for A school/ NAS? I'm trying to decide what I need to give him at the airport and what may be better to mail to him once he's there.

Thanks so much, i do think the laptop will fit in a backpack.  Do they get issued a backpack before leaving boot camp or is it something he has to buy?

hi again ladies, would you or your sailor know if a 15 inch laptop is too big to give my son at the airport after boot camp?  I'm wondering about flying with it to Pensacola or having it at school will be an issue.  Thanks for any help at all.

@PT mom: USO is outside security. We didn't go to the gate. There are a few places where you can get a snack and sit.

@MySonBug: Yes, the recording is usually posted a few hours after PIR ends. During my son's first performance the live feed failed after the first few minutes. I was so glad to be able to watch the recording!!!

My son is also in the performance division 929. He is in the choir group. I'm looking forward to the live stream may 12th and 19th before his PIR :) if by chance I miss the morning streaming, will there be a recording of it?

@1Bodyprof: I've been so blessed that my Sailor is in a performing division, so I've been able to see him on the livestream videos for the past 2 PIRs. He will already be in the hall when the doors roll up, but I will cry just the same!!!! Did you have to meet your Sailor at the airport entrance in order to get a gate pass, or is the USO before security, and you met him outside of the USO?
