I would love to find someone with a loved one in this division.  I still do not know the PIR date.  Does anyone know if the ships numbers have any meaning?  I am superstitious and nervous enough, and I learn that the ship my son is on is the number 13!  I asked the recruiter if he was kidding, but I don't think he saw the humor in it!  My son left Feb. 11 and after PIR is headed to Pensacola for A school.  Thanks!

Betsy... the ships are the barracks...not real ships of course. There is no significant meaning to any of the numbers that I'm aware of.

Actually the numbers are started over at the beginning of every calendar year. 001, 002, 003, etc...

Demetris, You are mistaken about that. The division numbers start over at the beginning of the Navy fiscal year in October. The question was about the ship numbers (01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 09, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 17) and they don't have any particular meaning that I am aware of and they don't change (well, they could if a recruit was moved to a different ship), but they may house different types of recruits (Ship 01 for instance is the In-processing barracks and Ship 02 houses those in the 900 divisions) and each ship is named after a particular Navy vessel. You can find out more about that in Ship/Division--How it Works.

There are no meanings to the ship numbers other than ship 5 which is where folks go that are being separated from the Navy for many different reasons. If your curious about this Ship then go check out the group..Its very interesting and can be sad at times.
hi.  congrats! what is A school and was your son at Great Lakes, Ill?

Hi cherylleigh! my boyfriend also left february 15th and he is also going to A school in Pesacola for CTR.. I just checked in with his recruiter and he is in division 148 .  We didn't get a call from him when he got there, but we got the box. I'm glad I found someone in the same division!

Hi Betsy,

my son is also on ship 13, just got the form letter tday. but he is in division 139. His PIR date is April 5th but he entered BC on Feb 6. Hope this can help you, it seems that your son is one week behind mine so maybe his PIR is the next Friday, April 12??  Hang in there!! Can't wait till his first letter or phone call!

Amy

I haven't received my son's letter yet, but he left Feb 12th and is also going to A school in Pensacola, FL.

Have you gotten your letter yet? My son left on 2/12 also.

It is very important to check the date of the posts. The original discussion was started in 2010 and has been added onto each year.

Lol-- whoops, I guess so! Thanks :D
