Hi my son leaves for boot camp on October 7th, 2014. Anyone else out there with that date? I am already starting to have some anxiety. Excited for him- for the next chapter of his life but my heart is feeling broken.

Hi, my son leaves October 7th as well.  I understand how you feel.

Hi aossanna. Nice to meet you. I am sure we will be having much more interaction in the next several weeks! Glad to know someone else is feeling the same!

my son also leaves on the 7th of Oct also. Its really hitting us now. My daughter just started bawling last night and I asked her what was wrong . She said brother and I have gotten closer then we were as kids and do not want him to leave  (she is 17 and he is 20)... I thought  I was the bumbling crying idiot..lol

Hi conavymom. Nice to meet you. Good to know we have others to go through this with! My son is 18, and my oldest. We just had his going away party this past Saturday. The reality is really starting to hit. I am beyond proud of him and his decision and he is so excited! It is just so hard with the mixed emotions I am having!!

nice to meet you too Sherri. We are not really having a party he just wants to go to the amusement park and Go to nice restraunt. My son is 20 and my oldest also.

My son leaves for bootcamp on the seventh as well.

My daughter leaves for boot camp on Oct 6th. I was a mess last week but so far this I am ok. We are having her going away party on Saturday. I am sure my emotions with be all over the place.

We had my son's going away party, this past Saturday. It was really nice. I have surprised myself and been able to keep it together in front of my son. I want him to know I will be ok, and the last thing I want is for him to worry about me while he is at boot camp. I save the breakdowns and tears for my husband and my alone time. Again, I am beyond proud of him and his decision. I keep buying NAVY apparel, as I want to show my pride!!

So far I have been able to keep my "mess" to my alone times and keep it together in front of her. We have been planning her party for this Saturday. I am looking forward to it. And it is supposed to be in the 80's for temp. Amazing in Minnesota.

Hi Everyone!  I have really appreciated all the notes the past few days, perhaps we can meet each other at Graduation?  Monday morning was very difficult for me, for no apparent reason.  My soon to be sailor is 25, my eldest and has been on his own for just about 4 years now.  He moved back with me a few weeks ago because the lease on his apartment expired.  I realized how much I have missed him and how hard it will be not just picking up the phone or chatting on Facebook.  I quickly realized I need to be strong so he can be as proud of me as I am of him.  So, I took a personal day off from work, we took a long and challenging hike and talked about all the times we took that hike before.  I am finding I enjoy every moment we have together and cherish just being present with him.  Godspeed to you and your sailor!  Anne

My son and I have been trying to watch some tv shows go out to dinner once a week to spend "us time together. I did have a moment yesterday as my "NAVY" son was playing basketball with his younger brother and I was listening to them, laugh and talk and challenge each other in a friendly game, and I found myself in tears over what I am going to miss the most. The little things...

I can't wait for graduation and by the time it will be here, I think some nice friendships will of been made by some moms!
