So it is finally here. The day we have been waiting for since May. My son is at the Recruiter now and will be leaving for GL tomorrow. I am so excited for him but my heart is also a little heavy as he is not near. He did all of his recruiting while at college so I had to say my good byes last week. I wish I could be there to see him swear in tomorrow and give him one last big hug.

On a positive note, some of us have been getting nervous because we heard there would be no PIR on December 19th. Luckily norcal-_pops reached out to RTC and they confirmed that there would be PIR on the 19th so hopefully we will see our kids at Christmas for the Holiday stand down.

Anyone else leaving tomorrow?

This afternoon, mine has the recruiters check in, meps, hotel, meps, and then on his way to RTC in the morning!! This is his journey into adulthood. I was in the army for 7 years, it is some of the best memories as a teenager and young adult that will never be forgotten!! I wish the same for our kids!!

My goodness! I so know how you are feeling. My son checks into motel tonight between 3:30-6 then can leave & come back at 10. In the morning they fly to Chicago. I am trying to stay strong and not be nervous. We'll go to dinner as a family then drop him back off. Not sure what to expect in the next few days.

Oh, and one more thing; my son has a cough that he can't get rid of. Just from a cold, but as a mom, that worries me for him going.

I was excited to read your note about PIR...I really hope and pray that we get to see him for the holidays!

Yep - and he's now on a plane to GL!

Contrary to popular belief, you can give a hug to a squirming teenager while running down a airport concourse.

Back home now to throw his dirty laundry in the washer and to dust that man/boy cave of his. Who knows what I'll find under his bed.

Best wishes to all - Tonypete

Well, we just left the hotel where our depper will be spending his final night as a civilian. Tomorrow, he has a long day ahead of him!! Wake up call @ 0430, head to MEPS for final checks and balances, swears in @ 0900, and then he boards the plane for RTC!! He has a great future ahead of him!! We are very proud of him!!

Good luck to all the deppers!!

Got a text at 5:56am that he was waiting for the bus to go to MEPS. I HATE this long distance stuff. Sorry guys but I am so jealous of all of you who are there to see the swearing in and can get in one last hug. We had a good talk last night when he was at the hotel and hopefully I will get another chance to talk to him while he is at the airport. I am bursting with emotion right now. Hopefully I will settle down once I know he is safely at RTC. Good luck to everyone saying good bye to their Deppers today. Now we are parents of Recruits!

Sorry for the mix up with the PIR graduation dates. When I contacted RTC about a 12/19/14 PIR graduation, via email, they replied with:

Sir,
There will be a graduation on the 19th.

This morning I received an email stating this:

Kaji,
I made a mistake, there will not be a graduation on the 19th.  The only graduations in December are the 5th, 12th and 31st.
My apologies.

I'm sorry for the confusion, as I was only going by information I received from RTC.

So I just got the scripted call and boy was it short. Glad he arrived safely, now the waiting begins. Can't wait to get the box and the form letter.

Hope you all have gotten your calls too!

We got a call, but not the scripted one, yet!! He's waiting at the USO center. He said there are a lot of SR's!! Let the madness begin!! Good to hear they made it to great lakes without any issues!!

Just received our scripted call!! As he was reading from a cue card!! Glad we were all awake for his last call!!

My daughter left Monday the 20th. I got the quick i'm here phone call. Thank to you and norcal_pops for that PIR date of the 19th. I was getting concerned we would be spending Christmas in a hotel somewhere.

Not sure if you read through all of the messages. The info norcal_pops initially received from RTC was incorrect. There is no PIR on 12/19. If they do not make it into the 12/12 PIR group we will have to wait until 12/31. :(  Keeping fingers crossed we make it into the 12th because I am so not looking forward to travel for the New Year's holiday. Although you can always make anything work and I think that is going to be an important thing to master now that "we" are Navy!
