My daughter is leaving for MEPS in Beckley, WVA tomorrow Dec. 8th.  She ships out to GL on the 9th.  I had planned to see her off on the 9th, but she requested that we not go because she would not be able to leave if she sees us there and me in tears.  I told her they would be tears of joy, but she said she needs to do this alone.

Are there any other moms with sons/daughters arriving in GL on the 9th?

I am also taking my son to the recruiter tomorrow. And he will arrive in GL Tuesday. I am from Ks.

Both of my kids were born at Irwin Army Hospital, Ft. Riley, Ks.  They lived in Kansas until 2006.

Just boxed up my son's stuff - bring him to recruiter tomorrow then off to GL on the 9th!! Sniff sniff
FWIW: I was on your shoes almost 4 years ago. My son left home on 12/15/10. He gets off active duty at the end of this week. He was in boot camp for Christmas, New Years and his birthday but seeing him at PIR was amazing. I think part of the boot camp isolation is preparing the parents also. It's been a roller coaster of emotions with one 7 month deployment and a bunch of short training cruises. I spent many a night sitting by the water at our local beach just to feel the water connection with him when he was gone but it's all been worth it. The Navy has made a real man out of him and I couldn't be prouder. Enjoy the ride!
My Son arrived at GL on the 9th. Just received the box yesterday. It was odd, his shoes were not in it

He may have decided to donate or trash them rather than pay for shipping, or they may not have fit in "the box" if he had a heavy coat and then he had to make that decision. That has happened for some.

My boyfriend also arrived on the 9th.  This post has been a big help to me. If anyone gets mail or the form letter, can they please post that on here. I am having a hard time waiting to hear from my recruit♥
