Welcome to the Division Discussion for Division 918

Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important

Every single concern is genuine

Every single member is important to us

We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Finally got a call Monday from my boy! We talked for nearly 45 minutes! Asked why he could talk so long & he said most of the people in his ship went "shopping". I missed his first Sunday call and waited all day this past Sunday but got nothing. I thought something went wrong out there...so you can imagine my relief when he called Monday. Oh that sweet voice sounded so fantastic! He's doing great. Misses home but other than that he's fine. There are quite a few that will be going to A school with him and they all kind of stick together. Got our hotel booked and are ready for Graduation.
San Antonio
We talked to our SR 45 min too! It was great! He was on a phone that was having some issues, but we managed. His A school will be in S Carolina. It's 4.5 hours away from us. I see a lot of trips in our future. They were testing yesterday. I'm excited to hear how he did. He also said they do a lot of waiting around and gets bored at times. They will be on weapons this week and fire next week. 37 days. :)

Ladies, just a reminder to please stay on the main PIR page also!  We N4Moms veterans don't have much time to go into these discussion groups often....we are on 6-8 PIR groups at a time.  So we will be picking up questions/posting info on the PIR page mainly.  Enjoy chatting here with others in your division!

I'm actually from San Antonio. Your son will enjoy it. It's full of friendly people and has lots to do and see. It's a party town. Tell him not to get caught up in the party scene and he will be fine.

FLNavyMom - Looks like our SR's are on the same path.  Mine will be going to A school in SC for two years.  I hope they get leave at Christmas.  He's is from the West Coast and this is soooo far away.

Planning on being there for PIR.  Especially after the phone call Monday.  He said  the Bilzzard was why they couldn't call on Sunday, but usually that's their "free" day and they can call and write letters. We had about a 20 min conversation.  He called and I missed him twice, so he called his Step Mom and got to talk to her and then called me back.  Good boy!  Then we (me and his Step Dad) got to talk to him.  He said most of his time is spent standing at attention and he has gotten time to reflect on what he has been like to all of us.  Very apologetic and emotional.  Wow.  The Navy has already changed him in a good way!

My son also said they spend a lot of time at attention. He said he just keeps his mouth shut and does what they tell him to do. My husband is Army, so our boys are used to having to get up in the morning, shower, keeping their rooms clean. Listening and following directions. He told his dad it all actually helped him to adjust quickly to basic. LOL!

My step-son was a challenge while growing up. He went through Army boot camp a few years ago and stayed with us through the holidays before going to AIT at Ft Gordon, GA. While here he apologized to me for his behavior while growing up. I was shocked! Basic training makes them grow up and see things in a different light.
My son is going to San Antonio too! I was stationed there back in the 80s at Fort Sam Houston. Loved it. I'm sure much has changed since then. Much to do back then, so I'm gonna assume that it's only gotten better. I've always thought I'd like to retire for good in that area.
S.A. is a nice place to live. My family still lives there. A lot of people are moving there from northern states. My husband is from Florida. We got the opportunity to move here 5 years ago and jumped on it. I love FL.
Clearing the mailbox of the snow was rewarding today since I received a short letter from my daughter! Said she's still not gotten ours yet, as of the writing, and was thrilled to get the Monday evening phone calls. I work evenings and thankfully the "OMG it's her" was met with "go talk to her, I've got the comm!" Short call because we were all separated so she had three calls to makem but so happy! Even though from upstate NY and used to snow, she's REALLY looking forward to A School in Pensacola!
That's WONDERFUL!
No calls today. :(
