My boy leaves in just a few short days. He's not a boy, of course, he's a grown man setting off to a wonderful adventure and future.  But when I see him, even though he towers over me, he's still that little fella playing Legos.  I am proud as can be of this young man!  I wish the mom-tears would go away, I want him to see the admiration & pride, not these silly tears.  Farewell Party is tomorrow and then the final countdown!

Anyone else have theirs heading out next week?

My son is also leaving on the 17th.  I'm having a hard time believing that he is really going to be gone in a few short days.  His party in on Saturday then just concentrating on spending time with him without crying!

Wow! You are sounding just like me :)

I am not quite sure how to get those tears to turn off!  I hope to get to spend some extra time with him over the next few days, but so does everyone else- Good luck on the party tomorrow- our house looks like the USO at this point, lol.

We can walk through the next week together and that will help a bunch!

Yes it helps a lot knowing other moms are going through the same thing.  I know that once he leaves I will be on this site 24-7

Good luck with your party tonight!

My son leaves on the 18th. And it's so hard not to cry. I am trying also but almost anything sets the tears off. My son is excited and a bit nervous and I want to offer him comfort but I feel like a big baby. This weekend we also have a farewell party for him and I want to try and keep it together.   I am so proud of my son for making such a grown up decision! Best of luck to all our sons and daughters. They are all so brave!

You are totally right, they are brave and courageous, and they are going to amaze us!!

Lol- I did sooooo good today - until I went to get the IBC Root Beer for the party.

His favorite treat at every birthday and Christmas etc. Everybody knows he loves IBC.

The eyes full of tears at the grocery store, hoping nobody saw that sudden waterfall.   The good thing was laughing and letting it go, it's going to happen, but if we can laugh at ourselves- it will be much better.

(stupid root beer)

Good luck with your party tonight!!!!

I am right there with you.

My son leaves the same day.  I completely understand those mom tears.  I find myself waking up at night thinking of activities that I have always wanted to do with my kids and then trying to find a time to do it in the short 5 days we have left.  It's going to be a tough few weeks for all of us moms.

It's pretty wild, isn't it?  What kinda fun stuff have you guys been able to do??!!

I have been full of thoughts from go carts to movies and we tried to get him to one of those paint on canvas classes, he would not paint.  Lol- I guess he's ready for all that manly stuff ahead.

Enjoy every minute, mom. We will have a very intense week ahead.  I wonder if they get tired of our 10,000 hugs?

I tried to get all of my kids together today and just have a "family day" but it didn't work out as well as I had hoped.  I think my kids are tired of me tearing up all the time, but they have been patient.

I feel somewhat helpless since there isn't much to get done.  I have been trying to figure out what he will need when he gets out of basic and set those items aside.  I was sorting my sons socks and I realized that he would not need very many when he is in school.  Who knew that sock folding would cause so many tears. LOL.

We are busy getting ready for my son's farewell party tomorrow and I think is getting a little tired of all my hugs and kisses lol!!
