I need help. My SR's pay didn't get deposited to his bank. As a result his insurance payment and car payment bounced. I checked hs Navy Federal account and it didn't go there either. This would be his first deposit from Boot Camp. I messaged his recruiter and he said he'd look into it but suggested I check if anyone here has dealt with this.

Has he been at boot camp for at least three weeks?  it takes time for the paperwork to process.  The 15th may have been too soon to been a payday.

Talk to the car loan holder and insurance people, see if they will be reasonable because he is in boot camp.  Many lenders are willing to work with the military.

Here is a good link about boot camp pay:

thank you for the info. The recruiter just got back to me and said his first pay wouldnt deposit until closer to 5/1. In the meantime I need to get a power of attorny signed by him. The problem with that is no one from his ship and division have gotten any letters yet. I am hoping this can be done some other way. His insurance and car payment come out of his civilan bank. If his pay is deposited in Navy Federal then I wont' have access without a power of attorney. I will need acess to withdrawl the money to deposit in his Civilian account

The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA), formerly known as the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Civil Relief Act (SSCRA), is a federal law that provides protections for military members as they enter active duty. It covers issues such as rental agreements, security deposits, prepaid rent, eviction, installment contracts, credit card interest rates, mortgage interest rates, mortgage foreclosure, civil judicial proceedings, automobile leases, life insurance, health insurance and income tax payments.

You may be able to receive a lower interest rate on your mortgage and/or on credit cards effective on the date that your recruit was sworn in at MEPS and was then enlisted in the US Navy. Check with your creditors and find out what proof you need to provide--sometimes providing a copy of your Military Dependent ID or of your spouse's Military ID or his/her enlistment papers is enough. There are also protections for renters (you don't have to pay a fee if you have to break a lease due to military orders among other protections). There are other protections as well and the Supreme Court has ruled the SCRA must be read with "an eye friendly to those who dropped their affairs to answer their country's call." Military legal assistance attorneys are available to provide guidance on the SCRA. (See http://www.military.com/benefits/military-legal-matters/scra/servic....)

The checks bounced. So its the bank. Try calling the bank and talking with them so you dont have to pay the overdraft charges. Navy Federal..Its hard saying what they will do. I haven't had any good experiences with them in the past

Have the insurance put the car on layup if you haven't already. If the car isn't being used. There isn't alot of guarantees on that 1st check. And you never know who much since they have to pay for things in boot camp.

thanks! I've been in contact with them :)

He can add you to the account and it will make it alot easier. He can also set his things up on auto withdraw. Navy Fed is a bitch to deal with when you have a POA. And if he has a bank account he doesnt need Navy Fed.
