For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 817 and 818
Be very aware when posting about your SRs who are in this division. Make sure you read the OPSEC rules (everyone should).
Do not post first or last names of your recruits
Do not post a city or state
Make your N4M profile private and remove the city and state in your profile
Although your SR is still in BC, what they are doing may be slightly different from what the other divisions in this training group are doing. It is also recommended that you go into your "settings" (clickable link on the right side) and change your privacy setting to "private" and change everything to friends only.
Please still use the main wall to post general questions, and concerns, such as meet and greet questions etc. Specific questions regarding the 800 division should be posted here.
We “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion groups as often as we would like to, and the ladies helping out with the 800 divisions don't always get to the main wall as often as they would like.
Every single question that is asked is important
Every single concern is genuine
Every single member is important to us
We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hi, I'm a "veteran" mom who moderates a group for moms (some wives too) to discuss what to expect in PreBUD/s and BUDs. As you know, once boot camp is over they head across the street to do PreBUD/s.
Just a comment on the "info is too scattered everywhere." That surprisingly is a good thing. There are many lurkers on this site and we don't need to make it easier for them to discover everything about our sons and their families. Facebook is generally strongly discouraged by the NSW (Naval Special Warfare) community as far as support groups. It is just too visible and easy to find information. I have a personal FB page but belong to no Navy groups for that reason.
Feel free to friend request me with a message of where your son is (what division in boot camp, PIR etc.,) so you can PM with any questions. I would be happy to help. It can be a lonely road as security is so tight.

PIR Ribbons for 800 divisions are "allowed". No idea about hotel door signs but I would not advise it.

You can, however I would personally not do it. There is too much at stake with out Sailors these days.
Yes, security is in full force at the Navy Lodge, but how many of those people do you want to let know your son is in spec ops?

You will not find any pictures of 800 divisions ANYWHERE on social media.... as a veteran mom on here, I can guarantee that. The Special Operations community is different from "Regular Navy" and it has a different set of rules.... and it is for your son's sake, for his safety as well as others.... and we cannot brag on social media about what our sons do, we have to be proud quietly. There are reasons for these rules...

Ok, I see the pictures you are talking about . By the comments on some of the pictures there are some discrepancies as to what division it is, some comments say an 800 division, others say it might be a 200 division..... if it is an 800 division, it is disturbing to me.... now the faces of these candidates are on social media for anyone and everyone to see... and some pictures of some of these men show their last names.... why everyone doesn't find it alarming is beyond me..... here, now we have the identities and pictures of some of our future elite special operations specialists on social media for the whole world to see.... Not a good thing, for reasons that should be obvious...... and if I was a parent of these young men, I would not like it. I would be very concerned.... and hey, now the BUDS instructors know what they look like, and what their names are, and can connect them to their parents.... especially the parents that commented.... Well, way to go, to point out your son! Now the instructors will be zeroing in on these guys..... might as well post: ATTN BUDS INSTRUCTORS! Here is your new meat to tear apart! Coming soon!!!!

Bobbi, I'm sorry if you feel my reply was harsh, I was only voicing my concern I have for these young men who are embarking on this journey. I speak from experience and from what I know to be true... not sure what your talking about when you refer to what "I'm walking through" my son achieved his dream, and has been living it.... The Navy is always saying to observe the "SpecOps" rules, and then they turn around and do exactly what they advise against....that is what I was referring to. Again, sorry if this was "harsh," but I feel that your reply was "harsh" to a veteran mom who has "been there, done that" and I think if I was new at this, I think I would respect what a veteran mom had to say.

And I don't want to scare anyone on this site... but this is a public site, and anyone can see what is being posted on here.... the instructors at BUDS monitor these sites, to see what is being posted and to see if they can match up names of the recruits with the moms who post on here.... I know it sounds far fetched, but it is the truth....so please be careful what you post on here.... do not mention names, dates or anything personal.... and you need to change your profile page to private if you have not done so already.

Lucy, I was talking about the RTC FB page. Not often, and very rarely, maybe once a year, once in a blue moon, if even that, they do they catch an 800 divisions out marching, but it happens.
Consider yourself lucky ladies, as that may be, will most likely, and probably will be the only photo you will see, ever anywhere at all.
