OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

leaving for boot camp August 25, 2015
I am looking for anyone that has a child leaving for boot camp on Aug. 25.
I am starting to feel some anxiety. I think after cleaning his bedroom out it hit me harder than I thought it would. Seven more days and I am nervous for him. He seems to be fine....its me. lol

Hi Farah - our son leaves 8/25 (technically 8/24) and I'm right there with you. The anxiety started for me about 3 days ago. Ugh!

Yes, my son also leaves 8/24. It all started when we cleaned his bedroom out. Then it hit me. I get so tired of people telling me that they sorry. When I tell them my son is going into the Navy the first thing they say is "oh I'm sorry" it just makes me feel worse!!

I just discovered this site a few days ago and it has already helped tremendously. We can def meet at graduation! I'm from PA.
I don't have too many people responding with "sorry", however, my close friends keep asking me, "how are you". I just tell them; I'm not sure, I'll let you know...
We also just started cleaning out his bedroom b/c his younger brother will be moving in there. I'm grateful, otherwise I think it would've been too hard to see it empty. :(

Brandy - same for us; our oldest and first child to "leave the nest". I didn't consider Power of Attorney. What was the main reason why you chose to do so? Just want to be sure I'm not missing the obvious here....haha. Thanks!

My son just turned 18 too but never considered Power of Attorney....maybe I need to look into that.

Hello! I promise you will get through this. My son's PIR is Friday. I was feeling the same exact way you are now a few months ago. I broke down and sobbed while I ran across some pictures of him. It helps so much to be in touch with people who are going through the same things and feelings you are.

Hi Farrah, our son leaves on the 24th. I am so nervous for him. He says he's not. He has started cleaning his room out. I can't walk in his room with out crying. I am so proud of him but I am going to miss him so much. He is our middle child. We are from Georgia.

My son says he is ready and not nervous also. My husband and I have been telling him he should be studying and working out but he hasn't done much. He has been running and memorizing some things so I hope he's ready!!
My son is also my middle child. I have a daughter that will be in her second year of college and then another son that will be a junior in high school. It will be very strange just to have one child in the house.
Maybe we can meet at graduation. Hang in there and stay in touch.
