After months of being on hold and being done with a school since October, my husband just found out that the reason he is on hold and stuck in his a school location is because of student loan debt and I guess his car loan. It's less then 50000 but i understand that's a lot. I hate that were just now finding this out. I am freaking out because they told him he will be stuck there until this gets figured out meaning he pays off some debt. I miss him so much and was moving there but now I can't because I have to pay off some of his debt. He's also been so mean so this has just been hard. If you know any advice to give me or your sailor was in this position, I would appreciate anything. I want him to get out of there. He wants to get out of there. We've been together for 7 years and married before he even knew he was going to Join do the distance has been hard. My husband said he has to show proof that he's paying on his debt. I just need advice. I'm stressed!

I'm curious what the outcome regarding your debt has been.  The student loans especially.  I have actually started a loan forgiveness program that has helped me.  I was with AES making large payments which caused all kinds of mischief with my monthly expenses, but right before Christmas I got a call (I guess because I was making regular payments) from a student loan forgiveness program.  They put me on a payment plan that is $34/month for 300 months.  Granted its 25 years..... but its only $34/month as opposed to the $550/month I was paying.

Do you still have the second car?

I'm a new SR mom. I don't have an advice for you, but I just wanted you to know that I'll be praying for you and your husband, for God to open a door and this debts will be cancel soon. God bless you!!

Sarah - My son is in a similar position. I contacted all his debtors and explained that he's joined the military and asked for their patience & cooperation to help me get his finances in order. I just had to "take charge" because my son was freaking out. Thankfully they empathized & are helping. Consider having him give you Power of Atty so you can legally deal w/his debtors. I've been married 33 years (my husband was active duty 25 yrs). Be patient, do what you can, as much as you can, help him fight his cause, most of all Stay Strong & Faithful! You're a Military Wife (((Big Hugs)))

CooperGMom, that is good advice, but check the date of the original post. Hopefully the situation has been resolved by now since it has been nearly 11 months since she posted and 6 months since her last update.
