Thank you Tiffany for adding me. The no communication from him is the most difficult. We are " super " proud of him and know that he is doing something that he has talked about for years. He was always more excited about graduating from the NAVY than his high school graduation last June. I booked a Marriott Courtyard which is near the RTC. It had great reviews from others going to graduation and,it has a NAVY discount.

Thanks for adding me. I am new to this as my son justleft for boot camp last Wednesday. His friend left today for the navy. I heard of this site from one of the captains in he meps center in Albany, NY. People expect me to break down and cry however I am stronger than they think. I am proud of my son and his decision to join the navy and when he has a career from it and has made a good life I will be even more proud. to many kids now days turn to the drugs and alcohol he did not and was the only one from his senior year that chose the Navy in his school. any suggestions on hotels close by the great lakes Illinois base and reasonable prices for boot camp graduation weekend? I like to try and plan ahead and not be hair brained doing it last minute. I hope to get a lot out of this site thanks again for adding me

Thank you Tiffany.  It is so hard not having my son home.  I expect him to walk through the door any minute.  The day he left, he didn't make his bed (typical) and I kept it unmade because it made it seem like he was still here.  This is much harder than I thought.  Parents with kids going off to college keep telling me that's it's similar.  It doesn't seem like that to me because there is no communication.  I am sure every day will get a little better, but right now, it's so hard.  I have to give myself time to adjust.  Thanks for the support.
