While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Upcoming Navy Tiger Cruise

Hi everyone. I will be staying at a hotel overnight to be able to catch the Bush for the upcoming Navy Tiger Cruise. Does anyone have any information on transportation to the Naval Station?

The Tiger Cruise folks are telling me that they are no longer providing shuttle service to the Naval Station and that Tigers are now responsible for their own transportation.

The cab companies are telling me to wait until the week before I need the cab to make my reservation because only certain cabs can get on base and they don't know which ones will be available at this time... but I hate to wait to the last minute to arrange my transportation.

If I am reading the bus schedules correctly, the bus that services the Naval Station runs only early in the morning (and later in the afternoon) - too soon for the other bus line to get us from our hotel to the connecting station in time for the bus that goes to the Naval Station.

Does anyone have any information on how other folks who don't live in the area are getting to the Naval Station day-of? You can contact me privately if you feel that the information shouldn't be publicly posted (I tried to limit the specific information posted here).

Hi Ladies I am sure you all are getting so excited about your sailors coming just like me.. we are not doing the tiger cruise my Sailor will be get off the day they come into port coming home. My hubby will be picking him up. But of course my Sailor has not given us any info on what we should do. Is anyone doing this just picking up and if they are can they let me know if the have more info then we do. UGH. Men.....

Just some fast info. We have been to this port before to see them and drove our car through the gates MAKE SUre YOU HAVE A CURREnt INS. CARD... Also you check in at building on the right side of the gate before you go in have passport Liscense everything has to be up to date .. Lots of cabs in this area if you all our at the same place you could order a shuttle bus yourself and split it. call a bus company . Just trying to give some info for ya'all that we did.

My son e-mails me recommending boots that have been broken in but the recommended packing list says tennis shoes. Boots sound warmer but tennis shoes more comfy. Any one else getting any other advice on that one? I saw where one suggested jeans / tennis shoes. IT'S ALMOST TIME!!!!!!

I've grilled my daughter on my wardrobe choices and she assures me we will be dirty and grimey within minutes of being on the ship! SO... Im not wearing anything nice, jeans, sneakers and sweatshirts. Im going to layer, I think thats easiest. She said we shouldnt be outside at all except for the air show, and Im borrowing one of her jackets. Thanks for the good advice about Insurance cards and ID, I would never have thought of that! Looking forward to Thursday!!!

Now THAT is good information! I am going to stick with the sneakers instead of the boots like he recommended. If we are going to be doing that much walking, I much much prefer to do that in sneakers. I may very well break down and buy a heavier coat (I live in Louisiana -- except for the global warming (not) we normally do not have a great need - other than the small issue of snow the last 2 years) but that will be a wrap. Thanks!
