I'm a Navy Wife and I created this group back when I was a girlfriend and my now husband had gone to bootcamp. Its funny because i joined this website when they had under 50 members. This website has been sooooo helpful and I met so many people on here that gave great advice. I made this group so that we could all come together and give eachother advice and share ideas. I see that this group is growing more and more by the day, Im happy to see that because so many wives/fiances/and girlfriends are clueless when it comes the military lifestyle. Not knowing what to expect and not knowing about deployments, bootcamp, duty stations, etc. I want this to be the place you all recommend because so many people on this site are knowledgeable and very helpful. Once again thanks for joining my group and i hope you get all the information you need. I dont get to log on as much as i used to but i try my best to get on here. So if u have any questions feel free to make a discussion topic and Im positive that it will get answered if not, inbox me :-) Take Care ♥

Jackie, I completely understand! just keep busy, take up a hobby. Fitness is always great! Scrapbooking, hiking, anything really. Just keep busy busy busy busy, and before you know a month will have passed and you wont have ENOUGH time to get things completed before going to his PIR. That's the predicament I am in at the moment! First month is the hardest and the second month is the easiest! I'll be anxious to look for your post when you get his first letters and first phone call. You'll be on CLOUD 9! Stay strong!

AshleyT thank you for sharing! I'm on day 3 now and it's kind of easier if I force myself to keep moving forward. Cannot wait for his first letter and then I can send all the ones I've written already. So so hard to be here without him but it's his dream and I just hope he succeeds.

Hi ladies, my heart seriously goes out to you both. Like I said before May 6th I was in your exact same position. I didn't eat for 3 days straight, all my co workers had to pull me out of my desk, drag me down to a Burger place and practically shove a burger down me because I looked so sickly. I was in so much emotional pain, it was even hard being around my family on Mother's day where I had to force a smile and wish my mom a happy mother's day. It was so hard on me. I came home to our apartment the day he left for bootcamp and I collapsed. Everything in our apartment reminded me of him. I couldn't breathe, I couldn't stop crying, i didn't know what to do, except just not move and cry. My best friend of 23 years called me, she calmed me down, and she told me a phrase that really hit me "this is your new norm." I started to realize day after day that this is my new normal. I also started to realize that I really can do this day to day life while he is out serving our country. I then started to gain my strength back little by little. I still cried off and on for the first 3 weeks, nights were the worst. but then 3 weeks later 5 letters came from him! I cried so much when I read them and I realized that he is missing me just as much as I am missing him. We poured our hearts out to each other, and it helped me, it still helps me. I write him every night before I go to bed, and my neighbor and I stalk our mailman down every Thursday (I go home from work on my lunch break and sit by the mailboxes until he comes with my letters lol). Then the following Sunday I got my first phone call. I was on a hike in the middle of no where and he called! it was the best feeling ever! Point is, yes it is hard because he is not there 24/7 anymore, and you cant just text or call him whenever you want. However, you ladies are strong, and you will get through this. The longing of missing him will never lessen but your day to day activities will get easier. I have completely involved myself in planning for his PIR. I have made SOOO many friends on the PIR facebook groups. I belong to so many that I can barely keep up. It also gives me something to look forward to when i go to his PIR in 21 days. I get to meet all these woman, and men who have loved ones in bootcamp right now, and who have been there for me as I have been there for them. We lift each other up in these support groups and it gives you a sense of hope knowing you are not the only one going through this nor should you be going through this alone. Surround yourself with your family, and your closest friends, they will help keep you busy and who knows maybe they'll help bring a smile to your face and wipe your tears away :). Please message me if you have any questions, want to vent, or whatever is on your mind and you need to talk. We are ALL here for you ladies <3

Jennifer & Madih:
Usually your PIR group has a Facebook page that is "secret" status so you probably won't be able to find them. Ask your group if someone has the link and usually it's PIR Group then the grad date. It's seriously one of the greatest ways to keep in contact with everyone.

Remember, your loved one is never far away, because he is always in your heart.

Brittany, you can call Tricare directly and ask for names of providers.  I think you can go to the base clinic too, for free.
