For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Nana, I would appreciate any words of wisdom when it comes to the sonar tech school. My son's PIR is this coming Friday and he will be going to Groton for sonar tech also. Reading everything from Jacky I too am worried although I won't say anything to my son when I go up for PIR.

My grandson is just going to start A school on Tuesday 10/24 for a Sonar Tech. I sure hope he does OK with it, but a a bit worried now after hearing this from Jacky.
He seemed to do very well in ATT and TECHNO in fact told me it was boring most of the time. So now it sounds like he will really be challenged.
I pray that everything works out for all or our sailors

tackijacky I'm sorry for your boy. My son graduated for Navigation. He did have one bad test in A school. They were put on mandatory study. He was very upset. I can't imagine how you & you son feel. The Navy always threatens stuff & then it seems to work out. One day at a time!

Nana...he was 1 month into his A school training for Navagation. Feeling better now, I have turned it over into God's hands, it is his situation now. Thank you

tackijacky Oh my I can't imagine how you must have felt, what terrible news. How far along was he in the training, A school, TECHNO ?? I am sure you should be fine in 5 days for you visit I can't see the Navy doing anything that fast.

Kris...we really enjoyed eating at a rest. called 99, they have a wide variety of items.
Hi everybody....I have 5 days until I leave for Groton to surprise my son for his 20th birthday. I was talking to him today, and he gave me some really saddening news....he is being academically dropped from the sub Navagation program, my heart just sank. I asked him what was the problem, he said, "It is some really hard shit, mom". I thought he had this in the bag, he almost scored a perfect score on the ASVAB, and I am having a really hard time understanding this, he is so intelligent, but maybe there is too much freedom. He said if he was LUCKY, he might be a machinist mate on a sub, but if not it is as the Navy sees fit, or their needs, not his choice anymore. Which means he will go out "undesignated". I asked him how long before he knew, and he said mom this is the Navy we are talking about, could be tomorrow or 2 months. So we will see if I can pull this surprise visit off, and hopefully me being there, will cheer him up some. Please advise on how to handle this situation

Hi Gals,
My son left yesterday for Bangor, Wa. I already miss him. He was home for about two weeks but it goes by so fast. Loved every minute. I even had a Thanksgiving dinner for him since I knew he would not be home. He brought me an x-mas gift from New York. I am so glad to have a wonderful son. Any mom's have kids in Bangor? He said there are some going that way and may be there already. He was in group 11000, I think!! Love to keep in touch as I know they are.

Kris, Have a great time. They even have a movie theatre on base and our son took us. Only $3.00 per person and they have popcorn, candy and drinks available. He can take your husband to see his room too.

He can get you on base, he has to meet you at the main gate , right next to main gate is the pass building...building 500 they call it. If he meets you there you can drive on to the base...if you have a rental car you must have rental agreemant or vehicle registration.

WOW thank you ladies!!! I will run the choices past Kris and see what he wants... they all sound good to me. His grandparents are going on sunday so whatever he doesnt do with us on sat he can try on sunday!! Are we allowed on the base? He said for us to meet him at the museum... i would love to go to the NEX, at great lakes it was tooooo crowded!!! Im looking forward to our visit...... thank you again!!
